i just don’t care about that. There was so much national hype around ND getting Charlie weis, Michigan getting Harbaugh etc and one was a flop and the other has just been solid.

There was no substance with Weis, just a coach riding Belichicks coat tails. Zero similarities to Gruden.

Harbaugh will be really good at Michigan if he stays. They lost basically their whole team.

Heard from a little birdie that Kyle Whittingham could be one of Currie's secret candidates. He scouted him hard in 2009. Whittingham ultimately turned us down but Currie may try again.
Would be a great hire but I wonder how he would fit in. Isn’t he Mormon? Would be want to leave Utah?

Well he doesn't have much of a bottom. Only losing 31 games in 16 seasons as a head coach is unheard of. Call him what you will, but he's not a really good coach, he's a great coach. Will go down as one of the best college football coaches of all time.

He is a top 10 coach right now in CFB imo.

I couldn't care less about that either. You hire a winner and the national attention will follow when he starts getting the W's.

They are close, and the OSU win in 2015 over Bama was huge for Meyer. But at the same time, Saban essentially made Meyer flee Gainesville and the SEC. He knew he couldn't beat him consistently.

I'm sure he knew they would still meet quite often going to another powerhouse. Who knows.

Substance is what is actually important. Many UT fans are so depressed that all they crave is hype. If they get that they will be satisfied until they are calling for a "hype reset" in a few years if the hype doesn't turn into substance. Gruden would 100% bring hype. He MIGHT also bring substance. I would have no problem if UT pulls off that hire. But I also realize there is certainly gamble involved in that hire.
Who could bring more substance than a coach who won the SUPER BOWL??

I like Mullen and think he’d be a nice upgrade but some of you have lost your minds with this Mullen hype.

Mullen isn't coming here either. We have a better chance of landing Gruden than Mullen. Mullen is content in Starkville, he has potentially his best team ever lined up for next season (even better than 14), and Sexton is toying for more money.

A lot of guys could go down as best of all time if they could just recruit better. Of course that is one of the qualities that make a great HC.

Gotcha. So two division titles in next 5 years is the benchmark? I agree, just want to make sure we're settled.

Mullen would do it. So would Taggart. There are a few others who would do it as well.

Don't overlook that little thing called a national championship and 2 sec championships in that span. Yeah, I'd be pretty ecstatic with that.

You tried to downplay our most successful stretch in history as "only two SEC east crowns" to fit your narrative. Not so fast my friend, can't leave out the good stuff.

I with you! I won't be 100% convinced until I see him at the podium either. But I'm not afraid to believe the smoke that's clearly out there if you pay attention. I'd rather spend my time on VN and VQ seeking out the Gruden info and digesting that rather than discussing X's and O's from Mullen's offensive playbook. It's not nearly as exciting. I like to be entertained and if anything the Grumors are entertaining.

Discussing Mullen, Bobo, Brohm or the next pay raises of Patterson and mullet man make me want to drink bleach. No thanks.

Ok Ron so who do you want after Gruden? Kelly isn't coming either.

If it wasn't for Steve Spurrier we would have won several more sEC titles in the 90s.

Does it really matter today tho? We haven’t won any kind of title in 20 years. All present day recruits were not even on the planet yet. History is great and all but even program with less or history have been more successful at times than us since we lost won a title.

Hmm. That’s an interesting one.

From listening to Hubbs the other day I’m becoming convinced Currie could hire someone very solid but completely out of left field (assuming it’s not Mullen). Wittingham fits that bill.

Yeah, for sure. But my point isn't what makes you ecstatic. It's what the floor should be.

His team didn't just beat Alabama in 15, they pretty much dominated the entire game. Score was closer than it really was.

Uhhh no. Bama had 5 Turnovers. They shot themselves in the foot a bunch and had two blown coverages on defense that lead to TD's
