But if we needed them, we just dropped enough cash on them not only to pay for the whole place but to offset the inconvenience caused to already-booked guests and to ensure discretion for the meeting.

Not saying the boosters had to completely buy out Blackberry Farm for the week, only that there are certainly ways for them to meet there for discretion's sake. And it makes perfect sense as a site to do so, given its location and clientele.

I'd kind of guess it may have already been bought out for the BoT for homecoming weekend.

A buddy texted me and said he’s hearing Currie isn’t traveling to Mizzou. Has to stay behind.

Another buddy from work told me yesterday Gruden’s QB Camp has been cancelled.

NOTHING IS TRUE TO ME UNTIL IT HAS BEEN VERIFIED IN THE GRUDEN THREAD AND DANIELA HERSELF HAS PUT HER BLESSING UPON IT!!!!


..... so has anybody heard anything regarding either of these rumors?

Oh, before VN decides to raid Blackberry Farms, the mission will fail. You will be kindly and cordially invited to exit the property if they are not expecting you.

They don't even put up signs for the turnoff, but if you have ever visited the Smoky Mountains via 321 towards Townsend, you have driven past it.

Rich people go there and pay $300 to catch fish on a flyrod, eat cheese aged in their own caves, and generally stay away from riff-raff such as I.

there is another poster who was going to Mizzou with a member of the AD, but that member cancelled, as well.

I had about 4 too many beers last night, I never found out what Chuck Oliver said on 680. Hell I couldn't even keep street names correct. Chuck is an Auburn homer but he has quite a few contacts. Someone I work with has reached out to him to find out.

I am trying to catch up now on the thread, we still good for Gruden? Also saw the twitter post that John met with Jon, anybody know the guy who tweeted that?

We did hear from someone who had a friend in the ad office who had to cancel his trip to Missouri. I think the qb camp news has been around.

Not sure if the University went back to Blackberry Farms or not. Alexander was using it in a fairly corrupt fashion when he was the president of UT. He also publicly fundraised quite often to buy land around the place to donate to the park. Thus keeping any private land where someone could build a competing establishment off the market.

WASHINGTON — Shortly after Lamar Alexander was named University of Tennessee president in 1988, he planned to have the school put up guests for events and football weekends at the nearby Blackberry Farm inn.

But school administrators, citing conflict-of-interest concerns, cautioned Alexander against using the $200-per-night lodge as long as he remained a part-owner. Alexander assured them he had disposed of his interest in the property and proceeded to steer $64,626 in university business to the hotel.

Alexander left the school in 1991 to become U.S. Education secretary, and only then did university officials learn that his interest in Blackberry Farm had been transferred to his wife, according to a state comptroller's audit. Had Alexander disclosed his wife's involvement, university officials said, they would have objected to hosting events at the inn.

If nothing else, I’ve gotten more information today about Blackberry Farms than I ever could on Trip Advisor. Now I just need to hit the Powerball or find me a sugar mama!

Him offering to help Geranimo with the job has been the only non-trolling action I've seen. Still not convinced they didn't plan that. I'm only a little serious. Haha.

As far as intent vs mischief, I want to agree, strictly because it is so detailed and makes too much sense, but I just can't.
