What would a HS liaison do exactly?

Involved in setting up some school visits with high school coaches. Involved with on-campus recruiting days like Junior Day etc. It is a go-between from the program to the high schools. Works almost primarily with the recruiting coordinator to schedule things and act as a source of consolidated info. I'm not sure (read: too lazy) to look up and see if Butch has one of those. I know there was one at the end of Fulmer's era through Dooley.

Ryan Russillo said this morning on Mike & Mike the University of Tennessee and Tampa Bay are interested in Jon Gruden as head coach.

Was this speculation or confirmation that we have reached out to Gruden? First time I've heard any of the ESPN talking heads say anything about Gruden to the Hill...

Thank you for the info :hi:

I really love it when we didn't get rounds observed safe....and we had to set on firing point with launcher layed on target for hours....and then the safety Ts trying to shoot a telephone pole through a pop tart box

That's because they had a cook or a freakin staff puke on the hill looking 180 deg out the opposite direction! Use to drive me nuts! Screaming at them on Command Fire net was my specialty :)

It exploded late yesterday so it's no surprise that it's in the notes today. I wouldn't put any more into it though

Well stated bro! This is NOT GRUDEN Fantasy Land!

My two biggest concerns are,

1. Does he want to be the next UT Football coach? I have yet to see any evidence that he sincerely wants to coach at UT next season.

2. If he does, how do the powers that be get past his current endorsements with Hooters and Corona Ect? State employees can't have their own endorsements. As the HC Gruden would be an employee of UT and thus a state employee.

Being all in on the Gruden hire myself, I would not call it a "Fantasy land" ... There is a lot of smoke (more than 2012) that seems to indicate it has legs....

In answer to your questions lets start with 2. I don't believe the endorsements are a huge issue as they can be dealt with, with money.... Some have indicated that Gruden would be paid in ways that did not include money .... that is interesting and should not be overlooked
now the 1. I have always contended that Gruden IS the wildcard in this.... Most in here refuse to hear this but there are two scenarios about what the break down was last time.

a) UT refused to give up the control Gruden demanded and Hart balked at hiring him

b) UT meet all his demands and he himself walked away, I have one person I trust that still contends this was the case and was in this thread in 2012 and posts here seldom now.... but he told me that for this reason Gruden WILL NOT be the next coach at UT

So I guess it is up to which side you want to believe... I do believe If Gruden wants the job, UT will do what it takes to meet his demands... the BIG question for me has always been ... Does he want the job
1. some say he once called it his dream job and hold tight to that interview... but these are the same that immediately discount the interview where he said he would get a college in trouble if he coached in college

2. I am hoping that he wants to get back in coaching bad enough, and the UT jobs fits his timeline, his wife wants to come home and his ESPN job going away just makes the pieces fit together

TIME WILL TELL

Here is the thing about DP claiming to know Ergen and folks in the ad.

Just because you know someone doesn't mean they are going to tell you anything about a situatuon, especially one that seems as sensitive as this one.

We know Currie isn't saying anything and even threatening jobs if anyone spills the beans.

And just because you know Ergen doesn't mean you know him like that. DP may have it in his head that they are best buds but to Ergen they may just be acquaintances and wouldnt tell him it's raining.

From his condescending post I'm thinking he feels he is way more important than he actually is and thinks he would know when in reality he is like the rest of us, sitting on the outside looking in.

Not that they know anymore than the next person. I have a dear friend who is a staff reporter at the Times. I'll ask her to reach out to the sports dept. and see what the feel is for Gruden this go around.

Funny thing was that Hargis didn't write about college sports at that time in 2012. So when he wrote the article, it was like "why is he writing a story about Tennessee"

Edit: Hargis covered high school sports at the time

Man, listening to the Ainge show this morning, if Brian Rice isn't DP they know each other very well and are on the same page.

Just looking at it from all the "chatter" outside of this board - my Grudometer is about 55%....

Skeptical about silence, not even mention of rumors, by mainstream media

Confident because some former players are talking about it and you get the sense they know more than they're saying

I recommend the Sunshine Happy Times brand Grudometer.
They are built to handle frequent fluctuations and user abuse.

I certainly need one that can handle a lot of abuse .... I also need one Big enough to use both as a walking stick and handy club when some in here need a good beating
