UT has raised $50M in private gifts for the $340M stadium reno. The Haslams donated $30M-- above and beyond their academic donations and contributions to the school of business. So no one's pulling off a coup to oust the Haslams, unless they have about $100M to spare.
I just dont see his hire this way. I will confess his tenure could look like Harbaugh at Michigan where he doesnt win quite as much as we hope (at least early). But just like Michigan we would be immediately restored to national prominence. I think Gruden would also recruit at a level we havent seen since Fulmer in the 1990s. He will also take in money for the university.
Even if his tenure somehow ends without a national title, Im convinced beyond all doubt it will be an enormous win for our program and will set us up very well long term.
But I also think he would get a title for us...
More tasty Grumors from the Gruden thread
Something went down last night. Pay attention November 12.
Gruden doesnt want to coach in the NFL.
Hes coming

No one is trying to hire Gruden other than Tennessee fans. He got ran out of town in Tampa after winning a Super Bowl with Tony Dungys players.
Said he doesnt really understand why we are so enamored.
