Official Jon Gruden Thread 30

Contradicts what you said a week ago.

I know for sure Gruden wants back into coaching and wants back in NOW. He also wants the UT job first. He will pursue NFL jobs if he can't get what he wants here. He isn't going to come here and not have enough control to not have to deal with petty stupid s*** that a head coach at a top tier football program should not have to deal with. Ergen has put together a package that gets Gruden what he wants and gets the AA what they want. If we don't get Gruden this time it will never happen because we would have to hire him from and NFL team and that won't happen. Its now a p****** match between billionaires and has been for a few weeks.

I don't know how much I buy this narrative. Everybody involved has to understand that they have to improve the product or the fans are going to stop buying it. So, what would it benefit the Haslams or anybody else to insist on a bottom-of-the-keg hire? Control or access? Who wants control over or access to a losing coach?

If Gruden--or another grand slam hire--is out there to be had, I have a hard time thinking anybody on the booster side would get in the way.

On the academic side, I would think that they see that they need to live with it because they love the financial benefit.

Trey Wallace:

"If JG wanted to put this to rest, he would have put it down over the past 4-5 weeks."

"Butch Jones is not coming back in 2018."

"They have a couple of coaches in their back pocket if they need them. Mullen is one of them."

"The rest of the list is: Gundy, Mullen, Brohm, Petrino"
I wonder if this information was leaked because of Mays decomit . I mean if it's a done deal and you just can't make it official yet have it leaked by someone with a reputation lately and bring back in the 5 star.

Wallace is pretty solid. He is putting his credibility out there with this and that's something in his line of work is EVERYTHING

My son called me a Little while ago to tell me that JG had signed earlier this morning.
He heard Warner Agee (out of Trenton TN) call into 101.5 this morning and say it was a done deal
Evidently Mr Agee has a Highly placed source.
Just throwing it out there...broadcasted this morning
and it is to be announced Sunday...

Warner Agee writes the Big Orange Report for a paper in West Tn. He does have sources but who knows if his information is legit.

I guess I am missing it. That wasn't a contradiction. We obviously gave him what he wanted.

I don’t mean to reiterate this again, but Trey Wallace being on the midday 180, a major city sports station, dispelling Grumors and staying them as facts is huge! To date, no one has even come close to saying Gruden has been offered, only that he’s a likely target and then proceed to blow it off. I would expect this to gain some national attention. It will at least be discussed on other shows and even other stations throughout the state.
