Official Jon Gruden Thread 30

You go re-read because I did say overall in my comment. We get it you want another mediocre coach and we want Gruden.

My bad. You did say it in the earlier comment. But for real, that's not true. At best, they are about equal, and are both in the middle of the road in terms of D1 Talent, with TN increasing considerably due to population growth.

Nonetheless, I never said I want Mullen over Gruden. That's silly. I wouldn't be in this thread if that was the case. I'm simply trying to make the point that comparing him to Jones is beyond ridiculous. Jones is garbage and has been. Mullen is a good coach. Jones has done way less with more, while Mullen has done the opposite.

I have to question your commitment to Gruden if you're going to just leave the thread for some sort of "vacation" if he hasn't been formally announced. I mean come on, your family is around all the time. Gruden to the Hill will only happen once. :)

I agree. Sadly, Mickey mouse won't. :)

Grude Morning, my fellow Grudenites!!

Take the Mullen talk outta of this thread please..It’s all about Jon F’n Gruden in here and let’s keep it that way..Thank you!! Carry on, fellas..

And folks continuously want to come into the GRUDEN thread and talk about other coaches to hire. There are threads for that. Not sure what is so hard to comprehend other than just wanting to come in and banter on about some other BS coach "that would be better than Butch"...well no $hit... But please understand, that is not what we want... We want a championship caliber coach, one that has proven he can win a championship(s), regardless if it is at the college or Pro level... Mullen does not fit that description but Gruden does!

And his rosters were back loaded with players the coaches before him got.

He’s a good coach but if we’re gonna call it what it is then let’s get it outta the way

Seems to be some angst in the thread this morning. A few folks muddying the waters. Best not to do that. Keep your eye firmly fixed on the prize. Distractions are just distractions; ignore them.

We don't need a coach who is better than some other coach. If that's your argument in favor of person X or person Y, that he'd be a better coach than someone we've already suffered through, then you have a weak argument.

We need a game changer. A guy who has stood on top of the mountain and looked down at all the vanquished beneath his feet. A fellow who has the youth and energy and smarts to get up that mountain again, maybe several times. Who knows what it feels like and is hungry to get the feeling again. And again.

So forget all those other names. This is the Jon Gruden thread.

Eye on the prize.

Go Vols! (and good morning, everyone)

Glad you're here

Dude. He is in the same division as Alabama. Be realistic. They have been to the SEC Title game almost every year he has been at MSU. That's nonsense.

Yeah, newsflash, the SEC is a tough league to win. SO WHY THE EFF ARE WE CONSIDERING HIRING DAN MULLEN?????????

Good ole Tony Horton, how is the P90x3? I havent been through any of his programs since the first P90x. Corn cob pullups were the devil.

P90x3 is so awesome. I've been doing it for 2 years straight. It is only 30 minutes, but I'm in the best shape of my life. And I was a serious athlete in my younger days.

Cade is a big time recruit, no doubt. But I'm not buying that a 17 year old is putting severe pressure on Currie to move faster.

I believe it potentially has more to do with his re-commitment after JG is hired, to add to the momentum and positive energy when that day comes.

Currie knows that when JG is announced, all the fans, recruits and everyone else will be back. All will be forgiven in an instance.

I might buy Cade’s dad Kevin doing this.
I think there’s a lot of former players that hate Butch and want Currie to know that.

Nah, no real angst, just a little Mullen nonsense. We all good. I think we all are settled in and ready to boom when the big day arrives. :)

I play Pokémon with my kids. Got to find ways to connect with your children. Mine are 13 and 10. They love Pokémon so dad takes an interest. My pops was a s***ty father so in an effort to be a good dad, I try to stay involved in what my boys are doing. I try to be a father, a friend, and a mentor. They know at times dad has to play disciplinarian as well.

Don't listen to the clowns that try to laugh at you for doing something you like. If it's not hurting anyone else and it brings you joy than you have nothing to be ashamed of and you don't owe anyone an explanation.

You should be proud you're sticking around and having time with your boys. My dad left when I was young so I know how that is. Much respect my friend!

And you continuously miss what im saying.

It’s not the end of the world if Tennessee signs Mullen. The typical Tennessee move is to sign another mid major hopeful and see what happens

What you're saying may be valid but it's a moot point. We're getting Gruden. There's a low tolerance of mootness (if that's a word) in the Gruden thread.
