Official Jon Gruden Thread 30

Long time lurker here, but discussions of Benton's bacon and fine whiskey have got me thinking: I have a bottle of Pappy that's been sitting on my office shelf for quite a while. I had planned to open it to celebrate a business landmark of sorts sometime within the next year. However, after seeing Beav's picture, it seems like the rebirth of our once proud football program is a far more worthy cause for celebration. I guess I'll be sampling some Van Winkle...

Soon...

I sure hope so.

Damn, this thread is some kind of awesome tonight!!

You should only be worried if you don’t know how to drive a car with 3 pedals, don’t own a tailored suit, or drink your whiskey with ice cubes in it.
John H. Daniels a little while back makes 3 for 3. I'm on my 6th Lagovulin and like ape I'm loving everybody.

Saw Stapleton at the Bijou 5 years ago, long before anyone even knew who the hell he was. He was with a band known as the Jompson Brothers.

Didn’t care much for the Jompson Brothers deal, but was able to see him before that when he was with the Steeldrivers, couple of times at the Down Home. Only reason I knew about them was because I’m friends one of the other founding members. Blew me away first time I heard him.

Yeah been reading Volnation since 2011, but never joined (not sure why), anyways from my source the deal isn’t done yet but interest is being gaged with assistants.

A small amount of water (such as an ice cube) is thought to enhance the flavor...similar to aerating red wine.

I find that it just gets in the way when I tip my glass up . No reason a good smooth whiskey should be impeded

My buddy for married last weekend and the best man had a 15 year for the grooms party the night before. I really enjoyed it, very smooth.

Sounds to me like you already have the best. Everything else is just bonus.

Sheryl Crow said it well: "Happiness is not getting what you want...but wanting what you've got."

A lot of happy people with very little in the way of material possessions out there. Also a lot of miserable rich folks.

I like Portland a great deal. When we moved out here we decided on the Bay Area largely due to the economy in Portland not being great at the time.

Portland is amazing. My background before law was restaurant management (chef). This is the best food city I've ever been in, the City included.

My brother lives in Portland. Tigard actually. I’m up there a lot. Our closest friends live there as well. We play Oregon Country’s club often. My favorite golf courses in the world are in Bandon. I’ll be there in January... Love Oregon.

Scotch offer extended to you, also.

I keep a bottle in the trunk year round, so do you cut some slack on some summertime cubes? Got the other 2 covered!

I've had a 15 and still have 20. It is smooth. Good to have connections. I think I paid 160 for the 15 and 220 for the 20.

I like the regular Jefferson’s more than the reserve. I am currently enjoying some of the Jefferson’s Ocean. It’s quite nice. Totally underrated bourbon.

I like Jefferson's regular too, but yeah I love Jefferson's Ocean as well. Usually have it on hand during the Holidays. Daddy's special nerve tonic...
