Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIX

FYI long post incoming:

I had no idea before this coaching search how many people I knew from mutual friends or family friends. Now I’m from chattanooga, born and raised and becoming more active in the community as I’ve gotten older. There truly is a movement here in chattanooga of boosters that were once low level who are now moving to mid tier. I had no idea how much money was around here and many of them congregate at the Honors and local political gatherings and are involved in a multiple businesses as investors or board members.

1. Heard from another family friend today that Hullco who is close to fulmer is pushing for Gruden.
2. Barry large who sold a logistics company is valued anywhere from 50-100 million and he and his family bleed orange. I’ve now heard he’s pushing Gruden and is working with other boosters to make sure this deal doesn’t fall through.
3. My super close family friend who works with the Luptons said they are still pushing for Gruden and thinks it’s happening. Actually he doesn’t seem in the least bit worried which makes me even more confident.

All 3 of these people know one other and that’s no coincidence. Two of these men know Peyton and have even golfed with him at the honors a time or two.

I’m not an insider but I’ve been investigating and reaching out to friends and getting anyone to talk that’s willing and if not I keep trying. Luckily several of these convos over the last few weeks have been run ins so it’s more difficult to lie or ignore someone when it’s in person compared to the phone or texting.

With all that I’ve pieced together on top of what message board insiders are saying across the board I think all the information which has been a few weeks behind is now starting to come to light. (I believe one poster confirmed this before) I did ask one of my contacts about Gruden and if there was any truth about wanting to be respectful about a coach who is currently not fired. He responded that’s why there has been a lot of smoke bc Gruden does NOT want to be viewed or portrayed as a guy who’s trying to remove a sitting coach.

One told me the smart money placed bets weeks ago. That seems to be true as well. I wish I had listened a month ago. Anyways hope we can have a VN get together and celebrate once this is over!

JT founded the Honors course. Friend of mine who ran a well known company that builds malls there in Chatt took me over there a few times. Peyton's wife and family if I am not mistaken have been family friends of the Luptons for a very long time

You had me, til you posted this. The sentiment behind it is so childish and immature...it's amateur hour. Total frat boy move.

If I'm not mistaken I believe he was responding to the girl that came on here last night saying he had followed her on twitter and then unfollowed her later.

I'm generally known around here as SFD. So I call my husband Mr. SFD.

Ah! Now that you explain, it makes perfect sense. I thought maybe the SFD was shorthand for some town or place (Souix Falls, SD? San Francisco Downtown? Seven Forks Drive?), and Mr. SFD was like the Mayor or leader of the place.

Your explaination makes much more sense, heh. Thanks :hi:

Explain, please, I'm just joining this crazy and fun string of threads about Gruden being our next head coach.

You are a VFL in SFD, but there's someone separate from you named Mr. SFD. Right? So who is that, and how does he relate to your user name?

On behalf of the curious, thanks :)

I'm glad to see you here JP.

Wow, he's on record as saying he wants to return to NFL head coaching ranks soon if the situation is right. He actually turned down the San Francisco head coaching job in January of this year. It would be quite the coup if we stole him away from Belichick and turned him away from his NFL head coaching goals to be OC here.

I agree. Kiffin brother Chris (Former Ole Miss) is on that staff too and Clint Trickett (former FSU coach) and some others too. Kiffin completely turn around FAU very fast after starting slow in just his first year. FAU IS 6-3 now and 5-0 conference and already bowl eligible.

Former Canes HC Butch Davis is turning around FIU down in Miami too and doing a good job in such a little time 6-2 record and also bowl eligible.

I think Kiffin and crew will be wearing different colors next year.

Legendary, I've heard a lot of the same (from a lot less sources), but am always reluctant to post anything for fear of people latching on and thinking I actually know somebody. But it certainly pleases me to hear that someone is hearing the same stuff in the Chatt circles.

These are all true statements. Not mayor, but...

My husband was talking to me about something yesterday at breakfast and I was so engrossed in catching up on here, I didn't even hear him. He asked if I could keep the gruden obsession off until after breakfast.

Did you say something?

No, no, no, no, that's not how this works.

Go to Gruden XIX and start reading from there until you're caught up. :)

Slightly off topic, and I know how we all hate that...

My company uses JUCO and other lower tier collegiate sports teams to help us during events. As I was just now entering new members into our database, I came across one named Daniela.

Thought this was funny considering our unofficial mascot around here.

He is going to work for free as well. Pretty crazy we are pulling this off. Heard he will sign the contract with his DCs pencil which is pretty famous these days. Hopefully he finds a way to bring that pencil with him too to call defense
