I have asked previously on here with no response...

I wonder what role (if any) Sexton is playing in all of this.

Sexton is Butch’s agent. Butch will be making less next year, which means so will Sexton.

Sexton is also Mullen’s agent. Mullen stands to make much more from UT, which means so will Sexton.

We’re gonna head a lot about Mullen because of this in my estimation.

The sad part is the people in charge seem to have no idea what the fans want or they just don't care. I am afraid it is the later.

The administration doesn't answer to the fans directly so they really can't care what we want. The fans can have an impact indirectly by not spending their money, but in the end it's the BOD and the big money boosters that Currie has to answer to. He doesn't have to justify anything to the fanbase, only to those above him. It is a business for him more than a passion. It has to be.

Sexton has to do what his client wants. Which means he’ll only push Mullen if Mullen wants to come here

Morning ya'll.

SFD this is why I said a while back I'm buying everything you're selling. There's a lot of logic in that. It has been stated numerous times that Mayes was the one holding them together.

My issue with that is we've lost the 4 and 5 star guys not the lower tier players. It's not fat that's getting trimmed.

So I have never dropped any sort of information before, and by no means am I an insider, but I do have one small thing I can share while things are so dead.

I work in the political realm, and a source within my office who knows the Haslams has pretty much confirmed that the power struggle exists. I was joking in the morning the other day about how everyone needs to prepare for Gruden, when that staffer was telling me that not if the Haslams have their way. According to them, the Haslams were lobbying for Petrino or Kiffin. Which I find hard to believe, but that is what I have been told.

If we miss out on Gruden, I would take either of the two...

I know I will not GT*O

I do not post much at all but here is one thing that I can add. I do not have any confirmation on Gruden yet but I can confirm the power struggle that is being reported by Beaver and others. It is 100% that the Haslems are being overthrown. My son who is very heavily involved in Tn politics is my source. I can't tell his position. With this being true I would hope Gruden comes along with the deal.

PM is in the middle being a ping-pong ball. Gonna try and help Jim out in Cleveland as GM in exchange for Jim being on Grude train and making this happen. Just my intuitive perception based on the tid-bit of facts known.

But those will come back once Gruden is announced. Their offers are null and void once the kid decommits. That would give Gruden the option to re-offer or not.

When discussing the Mays decommit with Mr. SFD last night, we were wondering if Gruden might be wanting a bunch of kids to decommit. That way he gets to go pick his own instead of dealing with all the offers that have already been made.

Or pick and choose. I was thinking maybe that's why only a couple have decommitted. He's cherry picking the recruits.

Speaking of Mays, I have a question. I've only seen a very small amount of tape on him and he was so much larger than everyone else, are we sure he will be all that once he is competing with others his size?
If someone who is qualified to answer this would respond, I would appreciate it! The size differential was immense so just wondering.. Tia

Could also explain the hold on recruiting/recruit visits.

Well the business isn't nothing without the fan base. The fans and supporters of all things Tennessee has more to do with the Tennessee tradition than the administration. Football is the main artery of the lifeline. Fans, students and the proud fanbase that gives to the University is why Tennessee has the resources it has to begin with. Fans are the life blood, and donor donations help pave the way athletic and academic. The administration is on the clock, I think they have enough sense to not infuriate the hand that keeps them fat. BOTTOM LINE! SOON!!!! Change is coming to the HILL! GRUDEN TO THE HILL!

I have zero intent (as I am sure you don't either) to seek to uncover his identity... but it would make me a whole lot more comfortable with him to confirm one or more of his stories

Oops! I don't like the way what I posted comes across. I have no intent to find out who Beav is. I meant that my brother should know someone who knows something about the booster situation. His partner is the head of one of Chattanooga's money families and he's on the BOT of UTCatt. There's info to be had...perhaps.

I hardly discuss the Grude situation with my brother because he thinks I'm stupid. He's way too ADD to read a message board, LOL.

Mr. SFD saw him play in person this fall and wasn't impressed. At all.

Honest question, why would you take Kiffin? Let's forget he screwed us over and we have nostalgia for him.
He's had 1 year of experience at a low level school, he was a good coordinator at bama but had problems with Saban and was forced out, he's failed very where else he's been.

I agree completely with everything you just posted ... the Big question here for me, is NO ONE has shown me YET that it is Ergen that is behind the hiring of Gruden..

If it is him... I am 99.9% sure it gets done.... but at this present time I don't have enough evidence to say that it is....

By the way if it's not, that does NOT say it will not happen... just more sure with Ergen

coasty, i think ergen is part of the narrative that we either believe or not.

you told me that there was no real proof on this board (in so many words). just sayin ...

i love you man ...

I believe it's possible Gruden comes to coach at UT but we need to hear something from someone other than anonymous posters claiming special knowledge. We've been burned by Grude expectations in the past. At this point if he doesn't come this time I will be mad at HIM...for not stopping all this speculation when he easily could have.

That's a signal in itself. Him not talking or has he been point blank asked?
