Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIX

Have you ever stopped and considered that this is one of the stipulations from the Gruden side? A stipulation that Jones finish out the season if Jones wants to and finish this stuff up after the season wraps up? I am ok with losing Mays or any other recruit if it means it contributes to getting the Gruden thing done.

My point is that it makes absolutely 0 sense to not tell a VFL like Kevin "hey, no need to let your 5 star son legacy recruit de-commit because something big is being done for the program."

Mays is a huge part of the class and what he's done to recruit others to it, you do what it takes to keep him on board and there's not a single logical reason that Gruden, if he were a done deal, wouldn't see it that way too.

From TOS.. And this sounds plausible

"Gruden did not say no. This spin was put out there by the Gruden side and the AD side because they were not happy that it got out that JG and Boosters had already been informally discussing things before Butch had even been fired. JG likes Butch and he is trying to be as respectful to Butch in this process as he can. He wants to make it clear he did not campaign for this job and he was approached by UT people, not the other way around. JG is a classy guy, he is trying to adhere to an unwritten code of conduct between coaches and friends.

As UT fans we should know about this better than anyone. Fulmer \ Majors ring a bell? JG wants this process to play out in a respectful manner. He never said no, that is complete bullsh!t."

Who was the poster for this quote?

Who is Anderson? Name I haven't heard before.

The training center is named after the Anderson family. Two couples with the last name Anderson. I’m assuming the guys are brothers or something. Google “Anderson training center” and the UT link talks about them.

You know, I have learned the best way to fix that is to worry about my own behavior instead of trying to change others. Serenity prayer, try it :zeitung_lesen:

Good call. I do that. But we’re in a forum discussing a coach so therefor we discuss it. Right? So I’m able to still worry about myself and simultaneously ask others to relax. Listen man, it appears we want the same thing. Agree to disagree on anything else?

Everyone (recruits included) tend to like the shiny new toy. When Gruden comes to UT, he will be the shiny new toy that a TON of kids will want to play for. That, in and of itself will stop the bleeding as it relates to recruiting, likely bringing most all the defectors back into the fold while adding a couple of surprises too.......

Sure I can agree to disagree, but I'm a woman not a man :)

I don't think you have paid attention in class then

I'm not a millenial by the way, but I get really tired of older generations beating up on younger ones because they want equality and transparency. This world isn't run by the good ole boys club anymore and I know that scares a lot of people like you.

How accurate is this guy?

Exactly, no use in straining at gnat. It's not an issue till we know he's gone.

Chucky gets announced and the whole UT recruiting will blow up.

But... but... but...

In calculus, curved surfaces are evaluated by using infinitesimal, infinite iterations/summations with straight lines.

Sorry, the nerd could no longer be restrained. :)

Yes, I agree. This situation could likely be more dynamic than it currently appears. Occam's Razor is one thing, ousting a booster and/or forcing a realignment is a totally different story altogether.

The far more simple solution would be that if Gruden were done, he'd want to make it as easy as possible to be successful and the UTAD wouldn't want to keep looking like a weekly dumpster fire.
