I've turned down jobs that I didn't want even though they paid more than I currently make.
I'm quite comfortable and honestly don't need to make any more money, especially if it came with the expense of a bunch of pressure and an unstable fan-base who does things like #BringBackBruce, #FireButchJones & #EmptyNeyland.
so yeah. endorsements and other "unregulated monies" can make up the difference -- don't confuse salary with how much you make. If he's truly into wealth management, he will be making 11M+ no matter where he works.
but, your mileage may vary.
You have been one of the more polite trolls, so I am going to be more polite with you. You have obviously not read the other 28 Gruden threads to see that your argument has been made and put aside hundreds of times. I appreciate your doubt, but it is not need or wanted in the GRUDEN threads.
SOON!!!!
I really don't have an opinion on him. As an announcer, i HATE him, but as a coach, i don't know. I know that kids like him, they like his QB Camp and it seems he could win the press conference.
So, i'm 50/50 on his ability to succeed. but from the Business perspective, i wouldn't quit my "no-pressure 6.5M a year job" to go back to "high-pressure 10M job". I just wouldn't do it. that's why I conclude, he's not coming here.
I won't burn mattresses if he comes and I won't burn mattresses if he doesn't.
I'm realistic
It ain't Zen philosophy.
Jones has tainted himself by allowing the team to tank this year. Everyone sees his complete GAF attitude at the moment and that translates over to his marketability. Which, at the moment, is likely hovering somewhere in the negative numbers. Hence, being the last kid waiting to be picked at kickball.
So, faced with either sitting out a year or pleading for his job, he's (likely) going to pick the latter.
If Mays had been told Gruden or some other home run hire was on the hook he would have waited it out. The fact he left leads me to believe we are not where we think we are.
Grudometer at 5% and dropping.

I'm NOT a troll. I've been here on VolNation for a Decade, i LOVE my vols, i have 3 students there now (2 just about to Graduate) -- but thank you for your remarks.
I didn't read the 315 pages of threads, i'm a working man and i guess perhaps maybe i just should have stayed completely away. HAHA
I just heard my kids being hopeful about Gruden and I don't want them to be heartbroken. again. for the 10th time as Vols.![]()
