Thats a North American T-28 Navy Trainer, used in advanced pilot training in the 60's.

Has a similar shape to a F-8.. My dad flew a Hellcat when he was in the Navy.

Unfortunately without an "insider" to corroborate what I think, the rest is so far down a rabbit hole it's hard to get to the end. People WAY smarter than me set this up. If they don't want something known I doubt it gets found.

If I remember correctly the Hellcat was a WW2 fighter aircraft used to replace the bearcat. It was a Navy Workhorse during the war.
