Need to consider this:

If I knew I was going to fire someone and even knew when, but then new information came forward that the person's actions might have created legal liability for me or my company, I'd delay firing that person until I had certainty to what liability could be assigned to me/my company vs. the person I was firing. It might be far worse than I know and I might be better off having them on my side vs. telling everything else they know.

Some of you guys crack me up. Linear thinking at its best. Y’all are looking at a chess game being played and commenting on it like it is checkers.

My question is whether an "outsider" has enough information to meaningfully analyze this chess match. I'm not sure there are enough factual pieces to make any kind of determination.

It's a battle of narratives currently, with a tremendous amount of misinformation from both sides.

At this point, there's too much luck involved to play chess - because you'd have to guess correctly on what to believe.

I can tell you it feels that Haslem will make a run at Gruden, for the Browns. Everything for Tn holds true for Cleveland except he has been a Browns fan his entire life. I'll say this, there is no greater challenge for a coach than Cleveland, worst football on any level.

A shrewd negotiator would recognize that firing "with cause" would take years of litigation to resolve.

So, instead of hanging their hat on that, they would craft the letter, dismiss the coach for cause, and then try to settle it for pennies on the dollar.

They would not let the buffoon continue to be the front of the football program on national television on Saturdays.

I just see it as Currie is letting it all unfold to let Butch hang and then fire him with cause and not paying him a dime of buyout money. JMO.
