Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

Question is...after the 3:00 meeting, will there be leaks?

You know where the board is gonna go with this. Too many factors are in their favor. More funding = more research = more revenue = more money in their's(BOT & Boosters) and the university's pocket. The opportunity cost of going the other route are far too great to not go with the aforementioned proposal. It's all too appealing from a financial standpoint. Restore the fan loyalty and this $300m stadium reno will just be a drop in the bucket. It's really sad when I go to my local mall and there is Alabama memorabilia alongside our beautiful Orange treasurers in the store front window. Do you think that is the case in Alabama?.. Nope. But, we have 2 hours to speculate.... Soon!!

This is getting ridiculous. Do you really think that somebody with Jon Gruden’s pedigree is going to settle for a job where his bosses had to be arm twisted into hiring him?

He worked for Al Davis. Can’t be more dysfunctional than that.

If and when all this happens i feel sorry for everyone outside of this thread and the ones who popped in to say never gonna happen. This has been a awesome experience

I said that in 2012 until we hired Butch Jones. The euphoria was quite extinguished for me at that point. I left VN for by far the longest in my 13 year stint here.

Still hoping for Gruden but Tennessee has conditioned me to expect another kick in the balls.

My husband is from Houston. I had my first Buc-ee's experience in September. My life will never be the same.:yes:
I'm in Texas too. Buc-ee's and their beaver nuggets rock! I was just at the one in Ft. Worth yesterday. I was going to post a similar pic today, but you beat me to it.

Gruden doesn't care about the politics or if people resist him being here. He's on the right side and gets what he wants in the end.

And possibly an enemy of a very powerful family. This mess won't just clean up nice and pretty.

I agree. If it’s true that all the crazy dealing has to happen just to get him to be the football coach here, why in the world would he want to come here when it’s clear he isn’t wanted?

The more I read of all the VC dealing (I’m not convinced the VC deal is related to Gruden) and in fighting between the people he would have to deal with frequently, the more I think he’s moving here to be close to family and bought a house on the golf course to hang out and enjoy life.

Guys the big picture here is the deal is close to going down because the beav is revealing his sources.

The beav never gives it up UNTIL its good and ready.👍

So we actually have a guy like Gruden...the most sought after high profile coach in football actually wanting to come to UT. ..and there is some faction or entity that is working against that happening? Unbelievable.

This entered my head each time I watched UT on the field for the last five years.

He's already agreed. Letting the two sides fight it out and knows who's going to win.

SFD do you think the final decision would be made today and announced at a later date?

I think it must be made by then. I'd say we will find out officially later.

okay, wait a second. I didn't know this was a public meeting. i've been saying that the BOT meetings this week, especially today, are important, but I can't imagine they vote about this whole thing ... in public. i'm missing something here ... somebody help me.

Well, I just bought a house and it took about 5 weeks to close.

Admitting that Gruden is WAY more important than me, if true I have to think that their offer had to be accepted at least a week or two ago.

When there is no mortgage on a house, and the buyer's are paying cash, it can close rather quickly.
