A quick Google search led me to see that Ergen is worth 14.6 Billion compared to Big Jim being worth around 6 Billion.

Is that accurate?

The last Forbes list I saw had Ergen at 28th and worth $17 million. Jimmy and Bill were further down and combined were worth about half of Ergen.

Edit: Sorry, yes, 14.7 was the exact number for Ergen.

Figuratively speaking in a literal sense, I have been hanging by every thread in this since XXIII. That bombshell really opened it up for me more than any. I'm more on the thought path, along with many of you now, of it being Haslam/AD vs Other boosters(Ergen)/AA. I could be wrong but it makes more sense that AA wants the funds that the other boosters are willing to "dish" out (pun fully intended), but Currie is Haslams puppet and is trying to jeopardize the deal for some untold reason that Haslam wants him to. The Kendrick issue has really messed this up for Currie and is making him look rather incompetent as an AD. So, to save face with his AA counterparts, he has to make a tough decision here and figure out who's side he should really be on (hence the stalling). It's all cat and mouse from here on out, but when push comes to pull, Currie isn't gonna bite the hand that feeds.

What you're worth and what you're willing to give to the university for a spot on conference calls are two different numbers.

I knew Ergen was up there, but I didn't know he doubled the King and Prince.

Interesting.

Exactly.
As many times as possible.

Ergen is on board as a majority backer. Haslam hired currie to keep control. Everyone else formed an alliance to take back control. Our guy or no more $$. Sweetened the deal with a VC to help make UT a top 25 research scholl. That is a real quick cliff note

Sounds legit.

Did you know Ergen was a professional blackjack player? Maybe he’s splitting the Aces into 2 hands to ensure he can win against the “dealer”. Just an amateur attempt to explain why he’s funding the buyout for one (AD) and using the VC for the other (AA.) Am I close?

You're saying that you will take this negligence case and guarantee a victory against Jones?

And I've never once said anything about how this looks for Butch. I've said specifically it's not a slam dunk negligent endangerment case. You seem to disagree, or you seem to have misinterpreted my point.

I absolutely never guarantee victory. Unethical to do so.

I would absolutely take this case and would name the university, Jones and Wells. Might go after med staff as well depending on what I found out. I would feel pretty confident in the case, as well.

I know you are a pilot and your last line while a bad situation for you is true. As a line medic people getting blown up on the LZ is the worse thing that could go wrong for me. Like on Operation Anaconda when 10th Mtn. got bombarded with mortars as soon as they touched down. My concern wasn’t the bird that flew us in.

Very familiar with that..lost pathfinders memorial day weekend 2011..exited the aircraft ...barelt out of the rotor disc..daisy chained ied's

Reading up on him, and I like our chances. Beaver must have a ring side seat to how he works. He just doesn’t lose.

Charlie Ergen - Wikipedia

Direct quote from Wikipedia under "Working Style":

CNN described Ergen as having the “classic startup mindset.” He is known to be an aggressive and fierce entrepreneur with a country-boy image that belies his competitive nature. Ergen highly thinks that sports are “a great preparation for being a billion-dollar company competing against hundred-billion-dollar companies. You learned to step on their foot so they couldn't jump.

Seems like Ergen has plenty of experience to resist being strong-armed.

SIAP, but after the latest revelation, was Bev’s veto of the outsourcing the other day the first step in the “FU” to the Haslams and a message to them that Ergen wears the bigger pants now?

Sounds like the old man has his knickers twisted from the younger crowds coup attempt.

Currie would be wise to side with the future of the program, which are the boosters minus Haslam. I know he's Haslam's guy, but Haslam won't be around much longer. Currie can continue to look like a buffoon and tank his career or he can get on board and become the next superstar AD.
