Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

The boosters have offered to pay the buyout...
Currie doesn't want Gruden, doesn't want to relinquish power, exactly like Hart.
This is all playing out exactly like it did in 2012.
Except this time the boosters have had time to cover all of their bases.
The boosters have everything covered, including the academic side.

The 20 million dollar question in my mind is this...
WHO is backing Currie? WHO hired Currie?

Many boosters wanted another candidate for AD, one of which most of them played for.

Sounds like the old man has his knickers twisted from the younger crowds coup attempt.

We’ve all been wondering why THIS time is different like people are saying. The “these guys don’t miss” sentiment is hard to reconcile with the “all they do is miss” history.

Ergen increasing involvement would explain a lot. The only arm strong enough to move the long standing gridlock of small time power plays by those that have screwed us for so long.

If he’s getting actively involved beyond just donating, that’s a game changer.

I officially move my grudometer from 20 to 25%.

Thnx

Who has had complete control of the football program for as long as anyone can remember?

Who will have complete control if Gruden gets the position??

Who is rumored to be the next president if nothing changes? That hasn't been brought up

I can guess what MIT means. I will tell you what I meant.

I think MIT's nugget means that Ergen is heading up the coalition of boosters who are not only attempting to get Gruden to the Hill, but also to reduce or shift the balance of booster power away from the Haslams.

One of the very first questions I asked right after MIT came on this board, was about something he said about a specific unidentified boosters who was at odds with Currie, but were working to ensure that Gruden came to UT. I asked MIT at that point to identify who the leading booster was. He didn't respond. He appears with this latest nugget to have identified Ergen as the Guy.

Which makes sense, he represents a younger generation of money than Big Jim, and he absolutely has the money to go head to head in a power struggle, if he has to.

This hasn't all been about getting Gruden here. There have always been multiple agendas. Anyone who has read MIT carefully could see that. And I'm not saying multiple agendas are bad, just that we should be aware that they exist, and MIT isn't just here to give everyone their dose of internet Xanex. :)

Exactly. Ergen has the money, resources, intelligence, and motivation to do this.

Tick tock, friends. We are getting closer to 3 PM. I doubt there are 380 mil worth of renovations without ergen.

Liked.

It was mentioned on here several days ago that several boosters wanted someone to take over, but no one could get enough support from the majority.
It takes time to to get people to see things more clearly, sometimes five years.

Player safety and CTE protocol is absolutely leverage. If you want to reduce it to a questions of $$ vs $$, it's the threat of the boosters withholding funds to the threat of families or even class actions suing over injury or risk of injury.

I'm not saying it gives the AA control. I'm saying that it gives them easy ammo that they didn't have before Saturday night. One thing I always advise my clients when giving depositions, testimony, or engaging in negotiations, is never give the other side a bullet they can fire back at you.

In this case, it was very bad fortune, first and foremost for BK, but also for Butch and the program. But like I said before, if part of the protocol involved placing the burden on student athletes to "self diagnose" concussions...that could be very bad for the school.

LOL, we HAVE Butch because of the AA side. They are only pointing the gun at themselves. Boosters woud respond back to AA, no ish, we tried to warn you guys in 2012 not to hire an unproven nobody at a mid-major program. You didn't listen and you now see what happens.

Haslam

Ergen at 85% possibly as a more silent entity while someone who cares handles business!

A quick Google search led me to see that Ergen is worth 14.6 Billion compared to Big Jim being worth around 6 Billion.

Is that accurate?

We were enroute, rerouted, passed the obstacles, and are in the landing sequence..as long as our intelligence Reports were right should not have any issues. A downed aircraft on the LZ is always the worse thing that could go wrong.

I know you are a pilot and your last line while a bad situation for you is true. As a line medic people getting blown up on the LZ is the worse thing that could go wrong for me. Like on Operation Anaconda when 10th Mtn. got bombarded with mortars as soon as they touched down. My concern wasn’t the bird that flew us in.

Ergens negotiating style is exactly what is needed. He doesn’t give a bleep. Strong arm, wallet whatever it takes. He likes battling it out in court and has the personality and strength to pursuade. If he’s truly behind this, I’m more confident than ever. I’m a Shell guy anyway.

You have big Jim, who is 88, making decisions that will have an effect long after he is gone. That doesn't seem right to me.
