Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

Ahh the good ol days. I remember those days before kids, soccer, basketball, drama, piano lessons, work, etc. Feels like it was just a dream now.

I got all those things too. Priorities, man!

We play at night after the kids go to bed and on the weekends. Video games have always been our “thing” we do as a couple.

The boosters have offered to pay the buyout...
Currie doesn't want Gruden, doesn't want to relinquish power, exactly like Hart.
This is all playing out exactly like it did in 2012.
Except this time the boosters have had time to cover all of their bases.
The boosters have everything covered, including the academic side.

The 20 million dollar question in my mind is this...
WHO is backing Currie? WHO hired Currie?

Many boosters wanted another candidate for AD, one of which most of them played for.

I hope this part is untrue.... but there is a lot going on that seems to indicate it could be

When you hit rock bottom (and we're almost there if not already there), everything and everyone comes together for the common cause. I'm not buying this narrative on all of the infighting. Just doesn't add up at all.

Jones cares too much about his image to parlay another job to knowingly play a concussed player. If he was all about the pressure to win the UK game he would have allowed JK to play. Concussions are not easily identifiable until they are obvious. Define obvious- but I think Wells knew and kept it to himself.

This. These episodes don't exist in a vacuum. If he knowing played a player with a concussion it would follow him forever.

I know a lot of this thread is tongue in cheek, but do we seriously have fans who think Jones knew for a fact that BK had a concussion, and then made the decision to play him anyway?

I look at it from a legal definition of negligence. A reasonable person in Butch's place either knew or SHOULD HAVE known that Kendrick needed medical attention. If their team policy was actually to rely on players to go to medical personnel to be checked out, I think that is going to end badly for Butch, and possibly the University.

If he did have a concussion and was to the point of throwing up on the sidelines late in the second half the question would be how in the heck did they NOT know he had a concussion? When these guys come off the field they have a discussion with their position coach every time. I don't know about some of you but when I have had concussions in the past (especially to the point of throwing up) there was no possible way I could've acted like I didn't have one. The dude basically was like a revolving door at a New York toy store during Christmas time in the second half. It was apparent something was wrong with him, at the minimum they should've seen that and taken him out.

Either the coaching staff knew and elected to keep him in or Wells, Scott and Butch are some of the most oblivious coaches I have seen. With all of the precautions going around with concussions nowadays I don't believe the stupid card is a good play.

I’m just curious as to how no one on the sideline saw anything unusual regarding Kendrick. He’s obviously not “with it” in the 4th.

I don't think anyone is taking such things as tongue in cheek. However...

If Jones did know, he needs to be out.

If Wells knew and didn't tell Jones, the immediate release of that medical staff and Wells needs to happen today.

If the second is the case, Jones needs to take responsibility, sack up and can the lot of them. It goes a long way in the public perception if that happens.

This. As a nurse, the thing that bothers me about is the vomiting in the last secs of the game. Vomiting is a late sign of a concussion. He would have been displaying noticeable signs beforehand.

I can't say for certain, but I personally wouldn't rule it out. I'm more on the side of what and how much did he know, and when did he know it?

Butch has clearly exemplified his arrogance throughout his tenure. If you need proof, RE: I'm going to bring the best coaching staff in the country (that's not even lol or lmao worthy), his reluctance to change a system that doesn't fit the players (this is year 5, not year "0") and his propensity to perpetuate cliches down our throats. There are various others but I'll leave it at that. The guy makes me feel like I just drank a gallon of castor oil.

Currie is the one person I couldn't speak for. I have no actual knowledge of his wants or intent. One could only speculate that the hiring of Gruden comes with some sort of loss of power over football operations...so it would be hard to believe that would be Currie's direction. I think he needs to look at battle vs. war. If Gruden were to come here and not do well you can't be made at Currie. He would have simply been someone who gave the fanbase what they wanted (a lot of them). Currie is in a no lose in my opinion. Be the man who gets the deal done, but doesn't catch all the blame if it flops. That would be my no brainer move in the first year. Give the people what they want and they'll love you forever...ish.

The information coming out about BK/concussion coming out and implying Jones knew doesn't have to be true to be useful to whoever puts it out there.

How did you come to this conclusion? Lol.

Why if Currie isn't going to fire Butch? Hasn't even talked to Gruden or another coach?

That part is untrue..... when Gruden was in town there was absolutely a meeting between Currie and Gruden that took place 100% verified.. by Springbok ......

No one of course know for sure what the discussion was or what about

If Currie is against Gruden then he will get freight trained by a cash cow --- well by a no cash, cash cow.

But I thought I read somewhere in one our many Gruden threads that Currie was all about Gruden (from an "insider")?????
