Man I can't mAke it in any of the reports of greatness. No mention in GVs daily updates, nor can I even get a shout out from Beaver, even though I dearly love the beaver. Check, I don't even rate a GTFO from knucklehead or put on the preachers list.

I did give you a shout out in Gruden XXV.

I can't find the thread though...

I find it quite funny that some would even think that CBJ would be willing to risk the health of a player to win the exact same game he sit our best offensive player for a smoking weed. Let things happen. If he doesn’t get fired in the end and you don’t get what you want complain all you want. However, you have no clue and none of these so callled “insiders” can tell you the out come right now cause it hasn’t happen and the situation is still happening. Sit back and let things play out.

FYI Jones is no saint - never has been.

My Grudeglasses theory would be thus: The reason we have seen such a long delay in firing Jones is that part of the re-negotiated buyout (if there is one) included Jones getting to coach out the rest of the season for a reduced buyout. This being due to the fact that Currie is trying to cheap out as much as possible on any such deal regardless of the damage it may do to the season.

Now if the concussion issue is legit and did in fact happen, then that puts UT in the position to McElwain his @$$ and fire with cause. The question comes though whether UT is willing to do that. Inevitably Jones would try to sue as a wrongful termination in that regard (whether he wins or not who knows, the point being with that much money on the table any sane person would try to prove they did nothing wrong to get the cash). So Currie is probably weighing the odds of whether it would be better to pay the buyout or deal with any legal fallout.

The boosters on the other hand now have another card in an already loaded hand. As another poster mentioned. They can force the issue by playing into the mismanagement of the program at all levels. You don't *#&@ around with concussions in today's football climate. The NCAA has strict rules in place for concussion protocol, and if not adhered to, penalties. So Butch has to be fired if its true. The baby calf has to be slaughtered to appease the god of the NCAA or we could face serious sanctions for valuing a win over a kid's health. The boosters can leverage that to push up the timetable on any plans they have in place, because if the administration doesn't act like they are taking this seriously their jobs could be in danger now as well.

As Beav said before; "the drama backstage could fill a movie script" (paraphrasing). If the administration is balking every step because they don't want to spend too much money on the football program, then they have now lost the moral high-ground of "but Butch is such a good ambassador, and has righted the ship." Without that narrative, their position is weakened and they can be pushed by the boosters who will threaten to stop funds because they don't want their name on a university that injures kids.

My version - Currie is trying to show responsibility in his first year. Can see the end of the season in exchange for reduced buyout. In game theory it's a bet that the fan relief from firing coupled with quick announcement of quality replacement payoff outweighs the short term fan discontent and questioning of his (Currie's) competency.

New variables - Kentucky loss ups the value of a quicker move. Then, Kendrick rumors change the calculus even more.

Now Currie and UT are seeing the "wait" option has higher costs than anticipated.

Wildcard - an early move without public comment on replacement or even replacement potential list looks like we are in Butch search 2.0

Bottomline, the easy (originally envisioned) path of under promise (no move now) and over deliver (move at the end of season and immediately name big name) has been disrupted by Kentucky loss and Kendrick story.

Time to recalculate.

Whatever happens from this point on is a waiting game imo....but I have to say this...beaver came with what I believe was great information from the booster side of this deal....if it was all solid from the beginning...awesome..but if it was a organized campaign with everything that followed to put pressure on the university to hire Gruden and take Tennessee back to glory...then I say WELL DONE!! It has been absolutely amazing to watch even if something went terribly wrong..it still has been like watching a great movie!GO VOLS!

Losing faith in Currie. No faith in admin. Losing faith rapidly with boosters. No one looks good right now. Everyone looks terrible. Currie looks weak. Admin looks too powerful. Boosters look disorganized and detached because they haven’t gotten it done.

Something has to give... and the way it looks right now isn’t good.

Regardless of whether or not CBJ intentionally kept him knowing there was injury concern, it's just bad PR for a guy who most would agree should be gone already. This is very likely the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Currie needs to make a move or he it's bad PR for him as well

damn! 40K worth of donations ? What all are you buying if you don’t mind me asking ? All of section T 😉

It’s really quite easy to accumulate that.....8 tickets terrace...donations etc....point being we all want better and are begging for a winning program. I’m all for what’s best for UT, will support no matter what and all in. Currently we are not treading water, we are sinking when we all know what it should and could be. I’m over 50 years old and sit with some former UT players that are a generation older. If you want a true perspective of what UT football tradition is and was and not some watered down social media version it would behoove you to have a conversation with them.
