Bobby Petrino is just awful. But I'd still take him over Bobo or Morris, and might take him over Brohm or Norvell.

That makes me think of another hypothetical. Imagine we strike out on all the top targets: Gruden, Kelly, Frost...would you offer Mullen $7 million knowing that you drop down afterward to Morris/Brohm/Satterfield/Norvell/Bobo?

This is the reason I had the post.

If it gets down to those names would fans warm up to BobbyP?

I know they aren't going to want him over Frost, Mullen and some others at the top but what if we go down the list

I would think Mullen is ahead of Frost in a search. Drop down and then maybe offer Frost 4-5. It will take 6 to pull Mullen.

Bobby P couldn’t win more than 9 a year with one of the most electric players in CFB history.

Not seeing elite with him.

I would still rather take a chance of an up and comer or nfl assistant. You know what you’re getting with Petrino.

Antone does some mediating on the sideline ie: taking ejected players off. But not sure if BK situation is being blamed on Antone or if any connection at all.

I wasn’t insinuating earlier that AD was somehow to blame.

I was implying that he could have chosen today to resign on purpose. Or he could possibly be the source for the Clay Travis article.

Never gonna know the answers there though.

What the #@%& is a medical observer doing in the press box? One would think the observer would be more effective and valuable if he was on the sideline...

Press box has all the video equipment to be able to watch plays and then review plays to see if head contact occurs. Or as a player gets up, are they staggering, etc.

Actually easier that way. If on sidelines, would then need at least 2 observers at every game.

No I’m wondering if he was being blamed for that situation.

His elite run was 7 years ago. Most guys don’t stay at the top for an extended period of time. And once you get knocked off that motorcycle, uh I mean mountain, it’s hard to climb back to the top.

Let me make it elementary for you grown man.

There is no evidence of Butch treating his players with tremendous respect and there is no evidence that Butch shares loving relationships with his players.

There is evidence of Butch micromanaging his players and getting angry when they do not perform how he wants. Butch particularly gets upset when his authority is challenged, also known as "little man's syndrome".

Therefore it would be much more reasonable to assume that reported leaks of altercations were true based on this evidence. Instead you are assuming based on no evidence of Butch treating his players with the upmost respect. Which would be ridiculous :rock::rock::rock:

How has anyone put up with this guy for 12,000 posts?

Well, he is a real horse's rear end for sure.
But to your one point, after the GA games 2 years ago, I did see Josh Dobbs tell butch "love you coach" on national TV.
However, I also believe that where there's smoke there's fire. Too many stories to not believe that it is likely.

Why? Why? Does everyone continue to want to run out of a pro style offense? As time goes by, things usually evolve into something better. This has happened with football, even in the pro's they tend to run out of spread sets. The spread>then running the i-formation. When will Tennessee fans ever get this?

Well first off, we ran pro sets when I was on the hill. And for arguments sake, had damn good success at it. And most pro teams DO NOT run spread schemes. Well maybe when Chip was in the league, but Defenses figured him out. Now, do they run 5-8 plays that incorporate spread philosophies, yeah but it's more single, I formations, with Strong and weak sets, and Gun looks.

And evolving into something else, doesn't always translate into success. Just ask Kelly. It works for a little bit and then NFL Defenses catch up. Pro sets will always be used more than anything, especially the gimmick offenses that you see in HS and College.

Maybe my experience and yours is vastly different. Lol

Has there been any NFL assistants mentioned?

No one has been mentioned period. But I think TN has the clout and money to at least get some one like:

Marv Lewis (probably his last year in cinci)
John Deflippo ( did great with wentz and Carr.. also worked with Haslam as OC if the Browns)

Deflippo would be a grand slam Xs and Os and development wise.

I have Mullen on top of my wish list. My only slight concern would be his wife being happy.

If she felt uncomfortable and didn’t enjoy the pressure that came from OC at UF and felt the need to travel 75 Miles to get groceries, how would she ever feel comfortable driving to Corbin,KY to buy groceries if her husband is HC at UT

Little humor but seriously, this place is a pressure cooker and if momma isn’t happy...
