Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

Yet the trainer knew nothing, the medical staff knew nothing nor did the SEC's rep know anything, but CBJ should be responsible and be fired for something he is not responsible for based on NCAA rules

The thing is, it's been reported that the coaches knew it and kept it from the medical staff. Investigation to see if that's true or not. The medical staff gets involved when there is a readily apparent injury or when a player/coach tells them. It's a school policy that either players or coaches or both tell the medical staff immediately if something is wrong.

I’m thinking it’s going to get real bleak in here.

What would make some sense is that Jones has some really bad skeletons in his closet. It might go way beyond this concussion, and something in CBJ past actions is trying be suppressed.

Thinking they are tied at the hip, but if Butch was fired, he’s taking Currie down with him. Currie may have turned a blind eye to one of Jones actions/or inaction. CBJ probably asked to finish out year..then CBJ would go quietly in the night at seasons end.
They both failed to realize CBJ ineptitude at coaching.

Now that’s not to say we don’t have Gruden. But it’s probably not going to be Currie making the delivery.

Purely speculation of course.

In a concussion protocol the SEC rep takes over on the sideline. If the SEC rep says a player can't go in, they can't go in.

I don't remember there being an injury timeout for Kendrick. If that's true, then I can see a scenario where the rep didn't know.

....I also fell asleep watching that game several times. :)

To protect the university, Currie could be in a pickle at this point.

Yep I agree. Wanting to give him the end of the year to aid in finding him another job to lower his money owed would now be out the window. But at the same time the university could possibly save money if the concussion story is true.

Can you point us to who reported it? Everything I have heard is that the staff did not know. I am not saying either way, but all I have seen is speculation.

Well, if Butch is fired it will technically be "after" the KY game. That's where the "insiders" always have a way out...with vagueness.

Actually this was DocVol's very inaccurate post..

Again, for the impaired: I simply provided info that his buyout was finalized last week and “Kentucky is his last game.”

My speculation was he’s out Sunday or Monday. My personal opinion based on the confirmation that his buyout was complete.

Really? Lying to the media saying it's a LBE injury and not a concussion vs letting a player play with a concession are two very different things.

Now I'm not saying Hurd didn't also play with one nor am I saying Butch knew for certain Kendrick played with one, but Mama Hurd's comparison here is so dumb. Really dumb. For real.

Currie isn't that stupid. If Butch is still here season tickets plummet, recruiting tanks, less donatations, no hype, dead program. He has the financial freedom to delay now but after the season is over, he will start hurting the bottom line substantially. Therefore, i don't believe Currie is trying to keep Butch at all.

recruiting already tanking , not many options to keep it together if this goes down at end of season

Agreed and all sides (UT / Currie / Jones) could be in a big mess.

Reputations on the line.

First one exposed: DocVol..."Butch will be fired following KY no matter if he wins or lose"

Next ones standing in line.

Why are you here? Seriously? You’re not changing anyone’s mind. Truth is, you and your fellow whiny butts want this to be true and hang out hoping to hear something to hold onto.
You just have absolutely nothing to offer of any substance. Literally. Nothing. You’re not funny, you aren’t quick witted, you can’t take a joke, you aren’t capable of deciphering information at fast rate, you get confused with big words, you take sarcasm literally and you’re probably single because I can’t imagine anyone willing to hear you whine on an entire date. That being said, get out.

What kind of concession did he play with? Hot dog or Petro’s?

Rather than simply suggesting all these contradictions (in your mind) ... why not simply state who said Gruden was a lock? who said Gruden had been in the plans for five years? and who said he is basically already hired?

I have only read one person (MIT) say Gruden was a done deal 100% but have NOT read the other things by the "insiders" that you stated where said...

There has been a LOT of speculation in this thread by everyone.... but not any so called "insiders".

As far as the local media, we have a present coach, he has not been fired in a public way, they must report accurate information and they want to keep access to the AD office .... what do you expect them to say?

Now, what else you got?

Honestly I don't recall all the names of the posters who have suggested Gruden is a lock. I say "suggested" cuz most (save the one u mentioned) have danced around it a bit with a "wink wink..you know what I mean" type of post. And yes..in their defense they always preface with a "don't hold me to it" but their intentions are obvious.

"Don't hold me to this...but I heard ...(insert claim)..is happening (or already happened)". And they always claim some sort of special 'insider' connection and/or knowledge.

Let's not pretend their intentions are not to suggest Gruden is happening. I eat all of it up..don't get me wrong. I LOVE it. Just wish something were happening in a more official manner...from reputable sources that would corroborate the speculation.

As far as Hyams? I get that he's just saying what he heard the company line is...but it's concerning THAT is what the company line is.

And the Monday presser Butch did not mention the injury.
