Yeah not all concussions are noticeable. It's why so many in NFL and college have played with one without anyone knowing. Sometimes the player doesn't want out and will do whatever to look fine. It's just part of being an athlete. Not saying anything like that happened here but it's not always easy to tell someone is concussed

This is very true. I honestly can't count the number of times I've had my bell rung and never displayed outward symptoms. And even on the hits to the head that did cause outward symptoms (wooziness, eyes glazed, slow/slurred speech, double vision, memory issues, etc.), I never puked. It's a lot easier to play it off and act like everything is fine than most realize. Most concussions do not come from highlight reel hits that knock someone out.

Which comes back to Butch who is overall responsible.

He would just be expected to discipline/fire his coach depending on the details of the situation.

Butch isn't directly responsible here. At least not based on what we know and can assume.

We are talking about a guy who is coaching his final games anyway. Only thing this could do (based on what we know so far) is possibly speed the clock up on firing him which is going to happen soon anyway.

Nope. That stuff with Crowder was true. Remember that Cincinnati player who came out and said he saw Butch hit players there consistently?

I've also heard a rumor Butch put his hand around a player's throat in the football cafeteria.

Well first I have ever heard of that he must of paid off about what 75-100 witnesses? Oye Vey.

Could this concussion thing hurt the program/Currie in a way that would make it difficult to hire a new coach?

That’s fair. I still look to butch as the “caretaker of Tennessee football” and he did a 💩tier job of it. His negligence left BK in a nightmare scenario. Concussions are a serious injury that require immediate medical attention and the fact that he was still out on the field at risk of sustaining more damage is inexcusable.

I will say if he created the culture part of avoiding medical staff then he absolutely is at fault there... have to prove that thiugh

Oh Boy!

Then why do you have medical professionals and people on the sidelines that observe for the league? It's totally asinine to jump to that conclusion. The head coach has a game to manage.

They're evidently not on the field but in the press box.

Man some of you guys love discussing sports but don't get sports or have never played. There are some things that get shoved under the rug because of the herd mentality. It doesn't have to be reported nationally to be true. Talk to players or people close to them for 30 minutes and you can find out a lot about Butch and his outbursts

Look, I’m not about trying to fire Butch over the chance that he knew as it was speculated earlier, but if the latest news from Clays article are true, then he is overall responsible for what happened. Does that mean that I think Currie should fire him immediately with cause? No. But I gaurantee Currie will be using this to get more buyout money back from Butch. Whether that happens this week or in the next couple weeks. Currie now holds all the cards. What he does with them is anyone’s guess.

If players are required to report themselves to trainers... well, we all know very well the mentality of the toughest S.O.B.s who play football. You'll know they have a concussion when they can't crawl off the field.
