Unfortunately in todays environment, more so than previous decades, stud athletes attend the college that will provide the best shot at making the pro ranks and are less concerned about a degree that they can always come back and earn.
If relaxing the academic requirements just a smidge gets the stud that is missing our cutoff by a couple of points, why wouldnt you want to be on the same level field with other colleges in recruiting said athlete. Those couple of athletes we miss out on could be the difference in a big time bowl or a championship and the additional monetary payouts/funding those events provide.
Why would any new coach want to start recruiting already behind the 8 ball, compared to rival schools, on borderline academic athletes?
Can anyone please post the differences is what the entrance requirements are for each of the SEC schools? I just want to know how we are at a disadvantage.
