Atl Vol is getting trolled IMO.

What exactly did he verify? That the guy knows a bar tender at a country club? Come on man.

Exactly. In 2012 Erik Ainge got trolled harder than anyone else and he's as plugged in over there as it comes.

No one is exempt.

I think the Gruden talk contains truth mixed with trolling

The ATL validation of Beaver is intriguing

Bottom line will be no Gruden

I agree Gruden is a huge improbability but you guys claiming that he is not coming as fact are just as bad as the trolls claiming that he is coming.

Boosters vs AD. Most of those guys you all think are trolls aren't trolling, they're just sharing info they've heard from the BOOSTER side of things. Just like last time. Boosters like to talk and share and be important. Or rather mostly I'm sure it's friends of friends of boosters. Difference this time is that I think Gruden actually wants the job.

None of it matters in the end if Currie and co. don't agree to the deal and hire JG.

We know from experience that legit connected people were trolled into believing things before. Should we just say that is very possible this time?

It depends on whether you believe they were trolled. You believe every word that comes from Hubbs mouth, you believe every word that comes from Hyams mouth. Who's really getting trolled?

Look I get it. No one believes that anything awesome is possible in regards to UT football. So you lower your expectations to coaches that are perenial 8-4, 9-3. Or coaches that have had success for 2/3 of one season. You justify it by saying UT is historically 8-4 team, live with it. You say that the Vols don't have the means to hire a top tier coach and we should get excited for another roll of the dice. The last 10 years will do that for you.

Also, many feel jilted because the way it went down last time. I get that. I understand the fool me once way of thinking.

When I say you, I'm talking about anyone that thinks there's zero chance that Gruden is our coach. The only reason ou think that is you refuse to think anything awesome could happen here. You prepare yourselves to get excited about another single or double when some are looking for a homerun.

Like I said, I'm skeptical that they can pull it off but at the same time I don't think it's stupid to believe it could happen as well.

The fact Gruden didn't come in 2012 doesn't mean they were trolling.

I'm suspicious too, but it certainly could have been true that the deal was close and never materialized.

Same for this year.

A lot of people are confident. There is a bit too much hyperbole with saying things like "done deal", but that doesn't mean they are trolls

This. It may not happen but it won't be because of Gruden not wanting it or the money not being there. It will be on the UT side this time.

It’s the same info from 5 years ago.

“Pay attention to some meetings happening this week” Lol. That’s the dead giveaway this guy is making it up.

The BOT meeting to discuss what? A contract for a football coach before they fired the current one. This guy isn’t even that good of a troll and people are falling for it.

Also, any kind of plan that involves Albert Haynesworth is laughable. Come on man. That guy is reading Volnation and tweeting it out there. Even if Albert did know something him tweeting about it would only hurt it.

Have you even read all of the posts that MIT has made? Probably not, but you spew these things like you have, because you choose to not believe this might happen. That’s fine… That is your choice. However, others have read all of his posts, and he has information that is way too detailed to not think that it has legs. And it is information that is way different than in 2012. Also, Our very own Atlanta Vol has confirmed that he is legit with the connections that he claims. AV Has also said that if they do not knock this hire out of the park, he is pulling his money. That should clue you in a little bit that the boosters threatening to pull their donations is very real.

But that's a dangerous premise you're setting. Because boosters (or so they say) think Gruden wants the job and "they" will pay him whatever he wants, it has to be the administration's fault if it doesn't work out.

It's the art of the troll. "I know something you don't, and this should happen because we're trying, but if it doesn't it doesn't mean I was lying - someone else messed it up."

I am in the camp that Gruden listened last time. I think he did it because he likes attention and the same now. I think the legit guys were trolled into believing it went further as we even had posters saying a deal was in place. Maybe that makes some sense

I agree with you Ron about the boosters vs trolling. I think there are big level boosters trying to bring a deal that would be attractive to Gruden. I firmly believe this part, I believe Gruden enjoys being courted and growing his brand.

I also believe you could offer Gruden $10 million a year and in the end he is still going to turn it down.

I know we don’t always want to believe Hyams and some local media but if Jimmy and trusted other media says there is 0 chance, it’s because Gruden doesn’t want to coach at UT and no amount of money will change it.

Last thing, I also believe even if the boosters and Gruden agreed to it in theory. Big Jim is all that matters and he isn’t going to allow it.

Nope. Hyams says he doesn't want the job. VQ guys have said he didn't want the job last time and we gave him everything he wanted - and they've also hinted he doesn't want it this time around.

Our only confirmed legit messageboard source, LWS, says he turned down the job twice already.

You all are ignoring information that does not fit the positive Grumor narrative.

Time will Tell. Like I said, I give it less than a 50% because I don't have any faith that we have an administration that can get out of its own way.

Still think people are falling for the same act from 2012. It’s all fun of course, but there are people that really believe it and expectations are set for a coach that when it isn’t Gruden will be a let down no matter what.

I got caught up on it last time, this time I’m not buying it.

If Frost trots out there, I won’t be disappointed. It’s not Gruden or bust for me. However, it is “you better knock this out of the park” or bust for me. There are at least a half dozen coaches who fit in that category, who are gettable.

Haslam/AD better be the ones going after Gruden or it has zero shot. This idea that rogue boosters are gonna bring a deal to the table for Currie and Haslam to ok is not worth fantasizing about imo.

I don't think Hyams is the end all for information. Hubbs has also said they were throwing everything at Gruden.

Our thoughts aren't that far apart but I draw the line at blaming anything on our AD. Gruden has been rumored for job after job. Surely all those ADs couldn't get out of their way. It's on JG

You may be right. I think this is why it doesn't happen if it does not happen.

Ziti made this point last week I believe, but for all the talk about "insiders," just remember how many of them have already been proven wrong about Butch's departure when considering credibility around something as outlandish as Jon Gruden coming here.
