Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIV

I don’t think they have even spoken to Gruden - through back channels or whatever you want to call it.

Butch has his job because his buyout gets less and less each week. Is he really hurting us vs having an interim? We don’t have someone in place and all this insider BS is a stupid waste of time. The guys running the show don’t give a **** about this next recruiting class. They are worried about making the right move that we can be successful and why not save money while you do it?

I’m not saying Gruden isn’t coming, but million dollar decisions don’t happen over night. Listening to the insiders crawling out of the Volnation wood work is just plain dumb.

Wanna bet something else? I bet not even the Brent Hibbs and Jimmy Hyams of the media are given the slightest piece of info from the true “War Room”.

This is one time I am very comfortable with the news... I do not believe the date has anything to do with anything....

Butch met with Currie tonight and his fate was sealed.... He is gone.... Now it is just a matter of timing... I believe this has as much to do with being in an intern type position for him as anything else.

Relax.... the deal is done....

Soon!

According to insiders, the next head football coach is in the bag. The AD thinks that keeping Butch will give them a better chance to reach six wins than an interim coach. I could see John Currie really wanting to achieve a new hire and a bowl game invitation at the same time.

The goal to win 6 games is holding up the termination imo.

I honestly believe most fans would rather see butch fired and a new coach announced more than they care about some crappy bowl. I know I would. It comes down to Grudenmania vs the Liberty bowl, I know which one would be more fun

Not our media. They would have to have a spine to do that. Maybe knowing he’s on his way out for real they will ask some real questions.

For the record, I don’t believe he coaches Saturday.

If it doesn't happen in the morning it won't happen through the week. Not going to fire him on Wednesday and expect an interim to come up with a game plan in one day.

It’s prorated. So yes, yes it does. Technically it gets smaller each day by the tune of about 5500$.

Power T has a good observation. Let him meet with the team in the morning and resign at noon. That’s what I’m believing for. No way he coaches in Neyland Saturday.

Guys. I think this is good. Think about it. If we didn't have Gruden, we would have announced by now. Especially with McElwain out at Florida. There must be something holding back announcing yet. I actually feel better that we're waiting. The only thing that makes sense is we already have our guy.

There is something holding back, it’s called Butch is still the coach and may even be retained if he wins the remaining games. The admin is simply chalking this up as a down fluke year.
