Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIV

I know this is the wrong thread, but Please don’t make me go out there...I’ll end it with a “soon” I promise. I listened to as much as I could stomach of Hyams and Tim Irwin this morning and Hyams and a couple of callers said Cade Mays has publicly committed to Clemson. I haven’t seen this anywhere on his twitter, is it true?

Soon.
Not true.
Cade retweeted a fake pic of him in Clemson gear that Clemson originally tweeted. Standard practice, we do it also.
He has since taken it down.

How does florida just make stuff happen, but with us it’s a two month super secret process with CIA involvement and UFO sightings, leaks and suspicions being wildly thrown around. Etc.

Florida’s like “you’re fired”

And now their search is on. That easy. No rumors or secrets. Just cut and dry.

It’s like a bad comedy.

I completely agree with this statement. Florida just made it happen. We have grassy knolls, magic bullets, and Russian spies. This reminds me of the AD search last year. Such a drug out process and you had to read the Warren Commission to find out how they arrived at Currie.

I get it. The plan all along has been to empty Neyland. The one game of the year all the faculty AND fans AND boosters AND VFLs will be in attendance. Kind of a “you think this is bad? Just let this keep going.” Ultimately, it will be the fans that make it happen. Am I close?

When I started at UT in engineering the brand new engineering building had just been completed, but there was no money for the necessary equipment. The athletic department spent 10's of millions of dollars to buy ME that equipment to increase the value of my degree.

This is the way this used to be done. Not a new philosophy, just one we need to return to.

I presume you're talking about SERF?

Spent most of my time in Ferris.

It was not the Gators. It wasn't who that would of been volatile. It was the package deal that would have been volatile.

Didn't happen...non-factor. All is well.

The question on this would be, was the deal suggested as a “well, I’ll just take them both away if you don’t do things my way” and once the duo said no thanks, is that now why we appear to have a united front on that side or are we still minus one?

Just checking in while working.

So I'm assuming from the recent posts no word on Jones?

Smh.. They are compounding the problems daily and don't even realize it.

Well, you also have to factor into the equation that historically Florida does their coach shopping at the Lamborghini dealership while Tennessee usually heads down to the local cigar chomping dealer who smells like feet and stale whiskey and will let you pay by the week with no credit check.

Muschamp and Mcelwain are “Lamborghini’s”? Those kits you can buy mail order to slap over an Oldsmobile chassis? :)

If this is done everyone prospers. It's getting the admin to see it that way.

I think they know they would prosper but they arent sure about the control they would have to give up.

Id give Gruden a blank check and tell everyone to gtfo.

Enjoy the new stuff from increased revenue.

So the athletic department is supposed to give the academic side money?

See that is the opinion of someone from academia because they are used to the world giving them everything. They are privileged. Those of us that work in the real world and earn our keep understand what it takes to earn that money.

Exactly. Boosters vs Administration are the players..I would even say Gruden himself is a chess piece. Checkmate is "CONTROL" of UT.
