This is exactly what I was talking about.
Pity.
Pity from KENTUCKY FANS!
Add to that the running joke amongst the local rival fans in my area is that Tennessee is always one year away from being "back".
It's all just so damned sickening.

Who cares?
Its a thought.
He didnt claim to be an insider.
Its all speculation.
Gtfo if a new poster who had been lurking finally wants to join the fray.
1 post or 10,000...not a single one of us knows wtf is happening.
So, one of my own small informational contributions to this conversation was input from the academic admin side (AA) that they had agreed on a number of concessions (from their perspective) to the football program. That was a major article, and it appeared to be cleared out of the way of the hire.
Within the last 24 hours we have seen some very specific rumors about Gruden's staff. Specifically, this morning we have a suggestion that he may have tapped Art Briles as OC.
I can think of nothing, literally nothing, that would be more likely to make the players in the AA lose their collective ish than allowing Art Briles to set foot on campus in an official capacity. It would be the kind of move that could easily throw a huge wrench into negotiations.
I'm not sure if the Briles rumor is true. I am interested that it has come out right at the time we expected to hear an announcement about Butch, but we haven't.
I've tried contacting my AA person, no response yet this morning. Not entirely unexpected with church going on. Will try again to find something out later.
IF the Briles rumor is true, then it's absolutely going to be a showdown between the $ and the AA. We will see who wins. I can tell you this though: if Gruden comes and Briles ends up being on staff, it will represent a huge power shift between football and academics, akin to the Romans burning Carthage and sowing the fields with salt.
Grude on!
Jimmy's source is the AD. If Jimmy said it, it's because the AD wants people to know.
Just imagine Petrino leading the team out of the T.
Hes riding one of our new sponsors, a Harley Davidson.
Hes wearing a neck brace and has a majorette hanging onto him.
Unfortunately, Smokey swerves in front of his Harley, Petrino crashes into the Drum Major. The cheerleaders and players all go down like bowling balls into a Big pileup on the 20 yard line.
Kesling yells out, what a turn of events.
We make the play of the decade on Sportscenter.
I think you're missing my point. I'm suggesting that IF Gruden for Briles as OC, it would ABSOLUTELY cause people to go insane inside the University.
We give Jimmy a lot of grief - and deservedly so - but so far he has been right about this coaching situation. Would not be surprised at this at all.

Will be at a Boy Scout event this Friday-Sunday. I remember when I was upset I wouldn't see the game. I'll read about our homecoming loss to Southern Miss.
What upsets me the most is watching my 13 year old son who gets so excited watching the Vols play and is probably a more passionate fan than me. Breaking my eardrums with YESSSS when we score or get a fumble. Can't sleep after the games from excitement. I had to wake him up 3 times during the game. They are missing what we had in the 90s and it's just sad and there is no solid indication it will get any better soon. When he said this morning "I'm not even gonna check the score next week" it makes me sad but I feel the same way.
And that is hard for me to believe with all the layoffs that's going on at ESPN with more to come.
