Dan Mullen thread (merged)

No I am not but I do understand what SOS is and what it means. I am sorry if you do not. Try again, as in all of these posts I stated I wasn't talking about ANY team, rather MSU's and TN's SOS.

I totally understand that you have to try anything, because you have zero facts, and you provide zero evidence.......in any of these threads.

In 2016 TN's sos was 24th & MSU's was 50th
2015 TN = 12, MSU = 9
2014 TN = 22, MSU 10
2013 TN = 31, MSU 21
2012 TN = 32, MSU 43
2011 TN = 34, MSU =28

So please if you will show me where the MUCH easier schedule is........show me how Mullen wins 10+ every year at Tennessee.

Well for starters, he trades Auburn, LSU, A&M for Vandy, Mizzou, South Carolina. Goes from being underdogs in three games to favored in three games.

At UT, he would be favored in 10 out of 12 games per year. Not underdogs in 8 out 12 games like he is in Starkville.

Once again, you need the space between your ears checked if you think the SEC West is equal to the SEC East.

I don’t need a ranking of schedules to understand that MSU’s schedule is much tougher than Tennessee’s

LOL

you may want to check my last post. With FACTS, instead of your opinion......I just proved you WRONG.

I don't give a flying crap what he trades..........the facts speak for themselves. Go get some for yourself and help your argument instead of ONLY spewing your opinion.

While your opinion is fine, and it is fine to have. I just do not believe it, and provide evidence to back up my claim. I still do not want Mullen at Tennessee.

Glad you’re claiming Auburn, LSU, A&M being equals to Mizzou, South Carolina, and Vandy as “fact”

Your argument gets weaker by the minute. I provided real facts (as stated by the NCAA schedule rankings). You keep putting forth the same info with teams that no one is talking about. But again I gave you some real facts, and you don't know what to do.

Going to a school with better talent and weaker schedule means more wins will happen. Mullen’s Floor is Butch’s ceiling.

It’s all for naught. Mullen will wind up at Florida and will carry on another 10 year win streak vs us. Shame.

did you just see what rolled across the screen where the Tennessee game is supposed to be on?

And once again, you’re claiming that playing Auburn, LSU, and A&M year in and year out are exactly the same as playing Vandy, Mizzou, and USC year in and year out.

Which is laughable.

No I am not. I am giving you the exact sos numbers.

We all look at lsu, a&m, auburn, ect as being good. But really over the past decade or so only Bama has been good every year. Some years LSU are great some they are not....so on and so on.

Some years FL are good, some GA are good....heck no that long ago SC was good......but not all the time.

Tennessee usually plays a very similar schedule in terms of "hardness" as MSU does. I don't make these numbers up......I didn't pull them out of thin air, they are the real SOS numbers.

The East is certainly weaker, but MSU still plays a "like" schedule most years as Tennessee. Again I think Mullen could do better than he has at MSU, but based from the numbers I don't believe he can be a consistent 10+ coach.

I just saw on SEC network, that FL believes they can fire their coach without having to buy out his contract.......because of the death threat statements.

Yup. And it’s being rumored that Mullen to UF is a done deal

An objective look would show what a dumpster Miss st is vs here. He has overachieved for the school he is at.

I like how you continually ignore my question of how James Franklin can have success at another school even though he carried a similar win percentage as Mullen. Sure would be nice to be 6-2 like Mullen's bulldogs instead of 3-5 like our vols.

I'm not arguing for Franklin but, he was only at Vandy for 3 years. He did take Vandy to 3 straight bowls going 6-7, 9-4, and 9-4.

Then at PSU he went 7-6, 7-6, 11-3, and so far 7-1

so there is a definite upswing where Franklin goes.......that isn't exactly the same for Mullen.

You're not arguing because you have no argument. Mullen will probably go to Florida after they fire Jim and beat us like a drum. He is a great coach who needs a good organization to really prosper. Same as Franklin. We will drag our feet and Florida will scream in out of nowhere and snatch him.

Schools like Vandy and MSU have lower ceilings than schools like UT. Franklin would never have been able to have the success he's having now at Vandy. Considering what Mullen has done at State during a time when the SEC West has been one of the best divisions in football makes me believe he could come to UT and have similar success. Mullen would be a solid hire.

Edit: I'll hang up and listen...

FWIW.....A friend emailed me earlier tonight and said McElwain is out and Mullen is their next coach. FL admin believes Mullen is a proven coach and can fix their offensive problems. I don't know where my friend got this info, but his wife and her family are FL alumni. My friend knew many Vol fans had mentioned Mullen. I don't know if true or not, but time will tell.......

Would be a great hire.

Well for one Franklin had Vandy 9-4 two years in a row. Then after two 7-6 seasons he had PSU to 11-3. So from Vndy to PSU he is +2. Mullen had a greater body of work at MSU. He is 7-6..........if he gave Tennessee a +2, that would be 9-4. Not what we are looking for.

Maybe he could do better, maybe he would do worse that is only conjecture. But by that reference he is a 2+ coach.

Mullen is a good coach, and certainly better than Butch. I just want Tennessee to hire someone even better than Mullen.

I fear FL is already doing that. Now it really looks stupid not to have fired Butch weeks ago.

I understand your point. But, I don't think you're giving Mullen enough credit for what he's done in that division. He's not my #1 choice, either, but definitely in my top 5.
