I agree. A QB should be afforded extra protection behind the line of scrimmage. When he passes the line and becomes a runner, he should be fair game. He still has the opportunity to give himself up. Don't want to get hit, slide before the defender has started his tackle.

Isn't that for all runners? If they give themselves up in a baseball slide and then get hit it's a late hit?

Boy the shine is off of David Shaw. If he can't come back in this game it appears this is going to be a disappointing year .

Yea Losses to non power 5 schools are shine removers. And a loss to a 1-6 would be even worse

I still think Stanford “shouldn’t” really be this good cosistantly. Everyone will say Jim Harbaugh did so much better but I think he just had Andrew Luck. Give harbaugh Hogan and others and he is doing what Shaw is now.

Really hope John Currie is watching this game and seeing what a interim coach can do for a team.

Someone in the FF has said John has been at all the practices this week by himself and paying close attention while taking notes. You know if there’s any truth in that?

I know he probably attends practice often and usually has people like boosters and staffers etc with him, but the poster made it seem like Johns paying more attention than normal for a reason.

Stop it.

He had 3 top 6 wins that year and finished the season ranked #3.

Your trolling is getting pretty bad these days.

I am trolling when I mention that Shaw is on the decline????

Come on man he has lost to a non power 5 school this season and on the verge is losing to a 1-6 school. Not a good look. More the truth than trolling

I would tend to agree that there is some truth to that. Maybe Stanford is just a 20-30 type program. Probably fair

I only caught a little bit of Tuesday practice and didn’t pay much attention. So lathargic and just same ol same ol. More special teams than anything else.

I don't find that believable

Just got home from a high school game where both coaching staffs had better playcalling and showed more moxie than UT's coaches. A few other coaches were there scouting and everybody was talking about how UT squanders talent and how recruits are catching on.

Austin Price interviewed Hyams pregame and Hyams said he didn't think Currie wants to fire CBJ and will wait till after the season unless the Vols get blown out by UK. All the media guys agreed.

Idk about the notes part but Currie being at practice a lot this week is certainly believable. Here was the quote though by RockyTopSC:

“Talked to one of my AD guys a few mins ago. Picked up a few interesting pieces of info. First week in the last several that John as been in the entire week. He has spent every minute of all practices on the field alone with no boosters etc basically taking notes. Draw your own conclusions from this however you please. I mentioned the topic of just a few people in the AD circle that knew what was going on and he said yes it is just three. John, Reed Sigmon (John's right hand man and former CFO of the college playoff) and Peyton. He said outside of that it is locked up.“

I would say he is gauging the potential of the status quo to make a bowl game, and which coaches may interim if he believes they can't ride this out with Butch.

Hmm an interim coach rallying a team to a big win... interesting concept. 🤔

Lol...Gary Anderson waived his right to 12 million plus remaining on his contract.

Pretty sure we would also have an interim coach right now if Butch made that same concession.
