I will say this.... and I think we all agree. This hire is important and they need to get it right because apathy could set in with a large section of the fanbase.

I hear a lot of people talk about how they like and support rick Barnes but it the butts in the seats tell a different story. Football runs the same risk with a bad hire. The next guy doesn’t have to rebuild from the bottom so fans are gonna expect results sooner.

Biggest hire since I’ve been following the program. Gotta get it right.

I agree. On a related note, in regards to the planned renovation and upgrades to Neyland Stadium, a lackluster hire and potentially mediocre performances on the field could be quite a damper on contributions.

With that said, hopefully the right hire is made, one that can lead this team back to being truly competitive again in the SEC. Would be nice to see a conference championship (or more) leading up to Neyland's Centennial anniversary.

I am skeptical of anyone who is in the loop with the actual decision makers and then brings sensitive information to a message board. Just doesn’t add up. Either being fed bs and don’t realize it or they are just making up stuff or embellishing cause other “insiders” make them feel left out.

LWS is a rare breed. Doesn’t hide his identity and always shoots straight. Brings solid info.

There are at least three distinct groups who have direct knowledge, and they all have different agendas. If Currie is as concerned about secrecy as has been rumored, then anyone who is connected through an AD source is going to be giving either nothing or disinformation. The other two groups are those in the coach's circle, and the money guys (led by Peyton, presumably) who are driving the buy out of Butch and the hire of the new guy. They both have different concerns than the AD. I would think the money guys have some motivation to leak if it drives the narrative they want. Coach's circle would probably want it quiet.

Larry is buddies with Fulmer, who is now employed by the AD, who wants it quiet.

Beaver/AV are both apparently connected to money. They might want it public-ish.

Hutch is connected to Gruden, who probably wants it quiet.

But yeah, nobody is beyond being manipulated by their hopes, no matter how much money they have. Money does typically buy access though.

There are a few things that have made me wonder, though. Gruden is usually very public when he attends games...on the sidelines, decked in orange. While I realize he wasn't exactly hiding in the stands, if there is anything going on, it could have been very awkward between him and Butch if he were on the sidelines. Then again, he may have just wanted to be a dad for a day, and hang out with his son.

Strange times, indeed.

Or...OR...how about JK and Ignot make better decisions.

Crazy.

I made some mistakes at that age and was pulled over by the law more than once. I got lucky and had officers who told me to just go home. Did these players make a mistake? You bet, but the cop was a d!ck, plain and simple.

You know how positive change happens? People who care speak up. They don't keep quiet and stoically support what this program has become. The football program has problems top-down and bottom-up. The time to start doing something about it was a month ago, and the longer it goes on, the longer it will take to fix.

I asked yesterday where he was. We haven’t heard from him since his wife posted for him that one night. Silence.

I think perhaps he felt he had posted a little too much. I do not think that was his wife posting but was BB. It sounded like he was someone off his rocker like Vol Lady was and all of what he was posting before was the same gibberish. That is what he wants us to think. However, I think he was legit and had posted too much and someone told him to fix it. That coupled with him being gone. I think he will be back after a hire is made but maybe not or not as bald biker. Shame really if he never comes back.

Fulmer is employed by the University system wide. Not the AD. Just FYI

I would assume his primary function is to serve the Tennessee Fund, but I imagine he is dotted line to the AD. Either way, anything he is or isn't communicating is flavored by the AD's intentions.

Relax. He'll get a slap on the wrist, worst case.

Fulmer reports directly to the president. His authority bypasses the AD and Chancellor, so he doesn't answer to Currie in any way. He advises DiPietro. Checks and balances.

Fan is short for fanatic. Being a fan means supporting them in good times and in bad.

This “well I’m not supporting the next guy unless he’s who I want” crap is just nonsense.

Like I said a million times the majority of this fanbase makes up the most passionate loyal fanbase in the country. Proud of that and don’t want it to ever change. I’m glad we aren’t a bunch of new money front runners like gator fans.

I appreciate your enthusiasm Ziti..I wish I could still share it. I love and support the Vols, but there are only so many times I can take getting kicked in the nards before I say screw this.

Welcome to the 21st century.

Well yeah, I knew what I was doing could possibly have these exact consequences if caught and I made that decision anyways. This guy over here though, he’s the dick.

The cop had the choice he could have went either way. We all know that quit acting like his hands were tied.
