Just wanted to mention, that Gruden has a contract with ESPN through 2021 which we will have to most likely buy.
Also, Gruden has a fear of failure, on one hand it's good to hate losing more then to like winning, on the other this job is probably too high pressure for him. The opportunity for failure is high for him, and Gruden does not get involved in opportunities for failure.
If he does come here, and it is looking very likely like a 50/50 shot, meaning it's not impossible; you are going to have to pay out the AZZ hole for him. That means he better win. If he doesn't, you have just set back or killed UT football for DECADES. Everything is dead at that point, including facilities and other sports. If he comes, it's because you paid him so much money he would be set without work either way. If he failed to win here there would be little repercussion for him. It would mean EVERYTHING for UT though. Gruden is as high risk a gamble as you can make for someone that hasn't coached a game in 10 years and hates recruiting. Just saying.
ESPN is about to cut a lot of jobs. Gruden is a big pay burden on them and he doesnt line up with their political ideology they are trying to force on everyone at the moment. He doesnt agree with a lot of it. Wants out.
And saying that Gruden comes and doesnt do well and that ruins UT football for decades? Really? Reach much? Hiring JON GRUDEN would ruin our program for decades....but keeping Butch or hiring Jo Smo of Middle-St.Louis-State would be great for low risk?
I mean do you read what you say before you hit submit?

I am not 100% sure about this, but seems when Gruden renewed his contract with ESPN, here was a clause regarding him leaving for a coaching job and eliminations the buyout.
Not confident about that, but seems I remember he had it put in that he could leave ESPN for a coaching job without penalty.
