Simply put, I am starting to think that Beaver is a plant from the boosters (Gruden supporters) to try to keep the AD (Currie) in check. Don't think they want the same outcome that we had in 2012
with Butch. Would be very difficult for the UT Administration and or Athletic Dept to select other than Gruden with this information out there if true.

That being said, I heard a theory today that Sexton and Butch ironed out a deal for him to stay for the entire season in order to get his entire pay.

If that is why he is still here, Currie should be fired for burning the whole thing to the ground. Recruiting is being gutted because of Butch, and yet, we sit and do nothing.

I thought I was less angry today. Finding out, I'm not.

He's been hanging for weeks, imo.

Without Dobbs athletic ability, the gallows would have been out a long time ago. Half of his buyout should go to Dobbs for keeping him here as long as he has been.

Butch has not been an in game coach from day 1! Need proof, why would you dare try and run a read option offense without a mobile QB? He almost got Worley killed and he has thrown QD and JG to the wolves this year. No reason we should be this bad, except that, we have an inept coach!

I think you’re getting ahead of yourself personally. Either Currie is 100% incompetent and we will be left with nothing, or he has something in the works and there are reasons he is taking the timeline he is. I wouldn’t get too worried unless this thing drags out until thanksgiving.

I think the AD is waiting on something outside his control in an attempt to avoid paying a whole lot of money. I'm nearly certain I'm right about this.

if, IF, what mit said about the boosters having to foot the entire bill because of the aa side, then the alleged game of chicken over a negotiated buyout between butch and currie makes sense ... they boosters want currie to save them all the money he can save them ... which lends itself to the idea that gruden is on the hook, waiting for an opening to accept?

My god, that would kill the recruiting class for sure and make the job even less attractive to potential hires.

I kind of suspect that they might be waiting on someone to take Butch off our hands. I suspect they are waiting on that deal to go through. Then we are owed 3 mil, although I'd guess that might get waved.

Why would he have to “iron out a deal to stay the full season and get his buyout”??? That wouldn’t need to be ironed out, if he stays, and gets fired, whether today or at end of season, he gets a buyout. The only thing that would need to be negotiated is if he agreed to a lessor buyout but gets to stay till end of the season. I understand that was just a theory, but it doesn’t hold water. Other than money, there is no benefit to keeping Butch another day longer. We have multiple people in place that would be adequate as interim.

I think most of us have the fear that this team finds a way, in spite of Butch, to win out, or at least win 3 or 4 of the next 5, which then makes the firing more difficult. As bad as we have played, the 5 left on our schedule certainly can be beaten by a motivated, determined UT squad.

Only way Currie pulls that off is if he has a redeeming hire so everyone goes...dilly dilly.
