Official Jon Gruden Thread XXI

I don't care what MIT's agenda is, I still want him/her to post, so can we stop trying to ID? I can see why ppl say his posts remind them of VolReporter (I was here in 2012 but didn't remember that name but have since read that other thread showing VR's comments). I am one of the ones who believed Gruden was coming back then. There was one theory posted back then that boosters had put the deal together & Hart balked. I believe that's what happened. My hunch now is that we're past that hurdle with Currie & hopefully with Bev et al. AA-AD environment was more toxic then, but I think some of those grudges are still there (& really academics vs sports is a tale as old as time) so this could still fall apart. I think deal being "done" meaning all have agreed but signatures aren't on paper yet. I'm still puzzled by timing of announcing Butch's departure (I believe insiders who said he's been told).

I was around then, but truly didn't follow it that closely. Did VolReporter keep the story going and as straight as the Beav has this deep into it? Just curious. I'm a seeing is believing guy, but have enjoyed following the roller coaster ride.

Two things jump out at me. One has been stated over and over - the complete silence from the AD. The second thing that made me think we are in good hands - Fuad Reviez stating that he thought that Currie had a list in hand since sometime last year. He was pissed after the game and all but said "Fire Butch!" The list in hand comment had me thinking that this process has been occurring for a while. He also talked for a bit about the back channel stuff. Plus, if Currie has hit the back channels then Butch knows how the game is played, he's working that side hard too so he can save his own career. I don't think these two are at odds. They know it's over and they are both working to get to the end, just from different angles.

Yes! Why do you think Butch changed agents to Jimmy Sexton? He knew the score coming in this year.

Fuad Reviez talked about what the team was like for his sons when a coach was fired mid-season. He said that, basically, things just went to crap. Players showed up when they felt like it and no one was accountable for anything. He does not seem to be a Butch fan (understatement, lol) but he has said repeatedly that it is better for a coach to finish the season. Now, IMO, he loses to Kentucky....he's gone!

I understand that thinking by Fuad. But how does this team go to crap more than it has? Maybe it will rally the team. Look how hard the LSU players played for Ol' Mumble mouth.

We have a few die hard's on this team that might just spark a fire! can't get much worse. I'd bet my salary against a $1 that I can call a better game than Scott/Butch has this year!

Let me preface this by saying I'm NOT trying to pick on you.

Can we not just enjoy the ride, have fun and quit trying to dig thru posters proverbial trash to figure out who they are and what their motives are? I'm as skeptical as they come and I've always been in the 'I'll believe it when I see it' club. Regardless of whether these 'insiders' are who they say they are or not, this is the most fun I've had on here since we did this in 2012.. Gruden or not, it will all be over SOON enough.

Let's have fun while it lasts..

Peace fellow Grodorks!

you have your fun your way.
i have my fun posting gifs.
sfd has her fun theorizing.

can't we all just have the fun we need to have in order to wait it out?

No reason to get off. He is the #1 target.

Exactly how do you turn down (or accept for that matter) a job that isn't even open yet. Even if Gruden wants it he isn't going to say anything publicly or accept/reject offer while a fellow coach is still on the job.

I agree about lighting a fire being a possibility with a HBC change. At this point it appears Butch has lost the team so why not try to right the ship and get him out of there.

I know there has been nothing good to tweet with regards to football, but any one else think its a little odd that Currie Tweets, Tennis, Volleyball, Golf, and so much more but has not sent a single tweet regarding football recently. He is avoiding the elephant in the room for sure.

I think the AD is waiting on something outside his control in an attempt to avoid paying a whole lot of money. I'm nearly certain I'm right about this.

One thing is certain, our football program was hemorrhaging and was not stabilized in time. It has now coded and is taking emergency medicine to resuscitate it. I just hope we bring in the right specialist to oversee it's treatment and help restore it to full health.

Morning.

I guess today is not the day. Heard the pressers is at noon as usual. This with Butch is killing me.

I wish DeBord was still here. My supervisor was bestest friends with his wife, Deb. They had lunch once a week. She would have been able to sniff out nugs on Butch. Dang it.

Off to Athens for work.

Have a Grude one, ya'll.
Athens tn?

I linked an article in another thread about our responses to Currie's tennis tweet. Check it out

He is a coach, or has been. He knows this game. Its a job, even if its not open, that doesn't mean that back channel talks can't take place for that job. anywhere you go or anything you do, there will be someone in the shadows ready to pounce on an opportunity when it arises.

Simply put, I am starting to think that Beaver is a plant from the boosters (Gruden supporters) to try to keep the AD (Currie) in check. Don't think they want the same outcome that we had in 2012
with Butch. Would be very difficult for the UT Administration and or Athletic Dept to select other than Gruden with this information out there if true.

I agree. We can wonder about his veracity, but cannot deny his entertainment value.
