I have my doubts that the administration is on top of this like we would hope.

But, the one thing that gives me hope actually is Currie's inaction and silence. I find it hard to believe that he would sit back and watch this disaster without doing anything. It would be par for the course (Beaver pun) for the UT AD's office, but I just cannot fathom that being the case.

The only thing that makes sense is that the AD is playing chicken with Butch to get the buyout down because he has the replacement locked up. Only time will tell. But, I don't have tons of confidence that the AD has that much sense.

Little tidbit about Ergen. We both entered UT in 1976 and played some 3 on 3 basketball together in 74-75. He would fight tooth and nail to win. Prior to that he actually played a year or so on UT's team.

What does this have to do with anything? It makes him an ex Vol jock and hopefully one that is sick and tired of his alma mater's athletic teams being a joke.

I kind of think Currie has ice in his veins. I think he is shrewd and calculating. I think there is a reason Butch hasn't publicly been let go. I think I know why, but I won't publicly speculate.

I hope that is the case, but will remain skeptical until I see the AD's office act with any kind of competence. It has been a clown show since Hamilton.

How is everyone today? I have to admit, I was a little bummed there was no announcement yesterday, but perhaps today will be a better day.

I'm intrigued beaver keeps checking back. Usually the trolls drop their tidbit and then they are gone, but he seems to be gauging our reactions carefully. I don't disbelieve him as he has a very carefully crafted story that is more sophisticated than a simple troll. I'd think he'd know more about timing, though. Who knows. It's a fun ride.

Calm before the storm.. something is bound to happen today or within a week or so.. way to much tension in Knoxville... Heck.. Tennessee in general.

Throughout we have heard that all the boosters are in alignment except for a couple but they'll get there. Perhaps the Beaver is working with/for the booster(s) that don't want Gruden. Perhaps he is trying to kill the deal a la Les Miles to Michigan. I don't, at all, think that he is exactly who he says he is for many many reasons, but I think he is pretending to be someone he almost is. He won't give up his identity, but if he was being completely honest with who he is, anyone that knew him would know. There aren't that many kids from Chattanooga to get a master's from MIT who now globe trot. The screenname is a big question mark for me. He has obviously had it a long time.

I don't think that Currie is against this deal, and I think that this new administration has a different concept of academics vs athletics than the previous. I don't think the warfare is still there the way it once was. I just think that the Beaver is trying to sow seeds of frustration and anger in that system to suit his (or whoever he is working for's) purposes.

I still have a lot of question marks about Bubba. I am struggling to figure out the VC angle. I don't know why we need venture capitalists when we have billionaires that are themselves venture capitalist in a way. Unless, in a way, the boosters that are behind Gruden have formed a VC firm for this purpose. That's kind of the only thing I can come up with.

I am literally putting myself on a timer today, as there is work that absolutely must get done.

Exactly. My sister-in-law was suggesting yesterday that they weren't going to fire him during the season. I told her that I couldn't imagine what would happen if they let him back into Neyland stadium.

Watching Currie and butch is like watching a cat play with a maimed mouse. It can only go on so long.
