On 10/19 at 10:27am, MIT said, "I made some phone calls to other boosters that I know, they have told me what we already know that Butch is done at UT. They also said that Currie has his top choice (Gruden) and 3 coaches as tier 2. The reports of Gruden saying NO to the job are complete bull****. Take it for what you will"

Was gruden curries too choice, or did the boosters have to do everything in their power to make this move? seems contradictory...?

Being a state job, they have to interview multiple candidates. So I wouldn't place much into that regardless of what happens. But I still doubt anything happens. Hopefully tomorrow by noon we will all be breathing a big sigh of relief.

I don't understand why AA would be against the football team being good. It would bring in so much more money. I get they want academics to be number one but still. If they are so smart how can they not figure this out?

The administration has always been the problem since Dickey and JJ retired.

It has been academics vs athletics / warfare since Cheeks got hired.

Cheeks made our standards higher then Vandy and cut out our athlete tutoring program.

All the dam egg heads thinks academics is the most important thing... They fail to realize.. athletics supplies most of funding.. close to 200 million in revenue from football alone...

But UT does not need football.

Don't believe I ever said either that Currie would use a search firm to make the hire, or that volgr's grudometer would be at zero.

Although it wouldn't surprise me if a search firm is employed to provide external due diligence vetting.
