I'm in for Frost.
Last night I ran into a friend thats currently on the Georgia staff. Here are some things he said:
1. Watching film, Tennessee has a lot of talent. The offense is genereric and the offensive line doesnt attack. They thought theyd win but not 41-0.
2. Kirby is under a lot of pressure coaching his alma mater. The staff asked him to trust them this year and he has relaxed a little.
3. Bob Stoops was a guest at their practice last week. He said Bob said that there was no way hed coach again. Said he was done and lost the passion.
4. I asked him what everybody talks about when Tennessee is discussed. He said that his players make fun of the Butchisms especially life champions. In the locker room at halftime, somebody (he wouldnt say who) shouted lets go finish off the life champions. How embarrassing is that???
4. I asked about the grumers. He said they obviously havent heard anything but thinks Kelley and patrino is definitely in the mix. He said some of the coaches said theyd be concerned a little with Gruden because of the hype on recruiting.
4. He said they are fixing to blast Florida and try to score some serious points. He said Kirby may call off the dogs if he gets to feeling sorry for Jim lol!
5. He said they didnt watch film on Tennessee like they usually do because Tennessee doesnt have but a hand full of plays.
6. Hes been on three staffs (1 DII, 1ACC, and 1SEC) and played on an SEC team in the mid 2000s. He said Tennessee is the worst coached team hes ever studied. I about cried but I already knew it.
Im a fan of frost also. Gotta make a run at a few P5 guys first if youre gonna make a very public search out of it, but if Currie does this thing in the shadows (like some think he will) and we end up with Frost, Ill be more than happy.
He probably still has some work to do as a HC, but hes been a part of some really successful football teams/programs, has been around a lot of great coaches, and has a killer instinct that weve been lacking from a HC for a long time.
It might take him 2-3 seasons, but hed give us a team that goes out with the objective of pounding opponents into the dust every Saturday. Dude would probably recruit up a storm as well. If hes coaching in the same state Mariota is playing in, I bet he uses that connection to his advantage. Hed have a lot to sell on the recruiting trail.
I'm at the point where I'm done if they don't manage a name. We spend too much time and money while we see Bama et al go out and get their guy. I'll always love UT but I'm sick of this 3 to 5 yr cycle. We're better off getting a real coach.
I agree, but I am resigned to the fact that it's just not that easy. Unless Gruden or Kelly want to come because they are out of football, it will be very difficult to get a sitting head coach at the P5 level unless it's someone like Jimbo, who wants a change of scenery. If we go after a P5 coach, then it means they are good and comfortable and stable at their current job. I like Patterson, but he won't jump for $2 million more for a risky proposition when he is a hero at his current school. Just the landscape of college coaching now.
They are delusional. They only want Gruden, Peyton, Kelly, or Patterson. They dont understand we arent landing a dream hire like that.
I don't see how he Butch is not fired by tomorrow, except it is Tennessee. He just had three of the worst SEC losses ever by a Tennessee head coach combined with embarrassing situations such as a banner, grocery store dessert messages, double bird flipping on national TV, nationally displayed idiotic coach speak quotes, and so on. He nearly got JG killed with his pathetic scheme/play calls. If he is not fired by tomorrow, the university/boosters have no pride when it comes to money. They value it over the program and fan base.
They made a contract with him, honor it and fire him immediately. Limping along with a pathetic loser that even they make fun of also sends a pathetic message to the coaching community.
