Official Jon Gruden Thread XX

While I’m in this deep I might as well go further... everyone knew how bad it was going to be today. And then the best intel we have on here begins to leak that it’s over with Gruden. Why?? Do y’all think Jon said no TODAY?? Literally called up Currie today, day of the 100th meeting of Alabama and TN knowing full well where Currie would be and how sucky the day would be and say, “Hey, I appreciate the offer but I’m just too close with some friends there and I know y’all had your teeth kicked in but I get I needed to tell you I won’t accept your offer.” Even if Jon said no, it wouldnt have been today! And if it was yesterday, why not leak it to the usual people so we can know BEFORE the crappy game?? Just doesn’t make sense. Either Currie is playing this unbelievably well or he’s a grade A D-bag without a clue.

The inner circle probably includes at least six booster families some of which may be represented by one person and some of which are multigenerational with multiple insiders, the AD, Chancellor, System President, BOT Athletics Committee Chair, several lawyers for UTK, Butch, Sexton and some of his people, and possibly the search firm and coaches we are targeting and those coaches' representatives. Assume that almost all of those people other than the lawyers, AD, and search firm people have blabbed to at least their fellow family members. Now assume that most of all of those people have confided a nugget or two with one or more trusted confidants because what hell good is a secret if you can't tell it to someone? Maybe only a few people know the whole story but there are probably hundreds, maybe thousands, of people who know something.

I agree to a point. But all these "insiders" looking for validation is getting damn old.

Yup, I don't see how this could possibly be true.

That is a shame when we have had Great recruiting in last five years ....... no development

recruiting hasn't been great. To compete for championships in the SEC you need to average top 3 in recruiting over a 4 year period. That is top 3 in the SEC.. Hopefully that has you in top 5 in the country on average. We haven't been there. Recruiting has been good, don't get me wrong. But not great

Any chance that Jimbo is ready to make a move? Looks like the frustrations of a bad year are boiling over. He got in some sort of verbal altercation with some fans today too

I heard that Monday would be the announcement day of Jones being let go. Again, I don’t know this with certainty. Just one person has mentioned Monday.

However, if he is, we should know by Tuesday who the real candidates are. Coaches don’t publicly want their names associated with a position that isn’t officially open yet.

You and Boro are so full of it you guys are funny! I certainly hope no sane person takes you seriously. If you are a salesmen by profession I bet you are struggling!

:loco:

Okay, now, let me tell you why I and some of us have been so anxious about this ... context if you will.

without looking it all up again, yesterday within a few minutes of each other:
butch stuff coming out of haslam stores sunday
butch billboards coming down sunday
you said good tuesday (which is the day after mnf)
then somebody posted a tweet or something about press conference tuesday at noon

wasn't trying to hassle you ... just looking for clarification

thanks bro.

Ok, say you are Currie and you want to flush the leakers you feed them info only you know or want to be heard. Then when certain posters drop the "nugget" so to speak you know who they are and cut them out or cut their known associates out.

Be careful when you say youre hearing nothing good insiders....

Don’t know. I was working all day. Didn’t even watch the game. Zero desire to. I’m at the point of apathy if PJ Fleck is our top target.

You hear Gruden is done, you don't follow up to find out why, now you hear that PJ Fleck is a top target just out of the =blue? WTF?? This is a solid troll job.

Honest question. What's the motive for an AD to flush leakers and feed misinformation?

How is it over before it can begin?

I'm going to guess (well, not really since it's been explained a thousand times before) that boosters reach out to candidates and discuss details with them if they are willing to hear them. Things can get very in depth in these negotiations to the point that a deal can be made and agreed upon or turned down as seems to be the case with Gruden.

The beauty of this is that it can be done without an actual job opening because the AD is never "officially" involved.
