Has to many friendships at Tennessee and doesn't want to risk losing them. Bottom line, IMO, he has no desire to coach in college. We made him a great offer is what I understand. Saban type offer

Doesnt want to risk losing friendships at Tenn??

Is that your opinion or did someone "tell you that".

Either way I think that is horse sh$$.

But there isn't an opening.

Serious question if you will indulge me.

If you and others have "heard" that Tennessee offered Jon Gruden on two occassions and that he has rejected both offers, then why hasn't the national sports media run the story. If what you are saying is true then I would think some national sports media outlets would run the story because it's a big story. Could be lots of free pub for the University of Tennessee.

Oh and didn't Saban turn Bama down a few times?

because no reporter has the story with permission from their SOURCES to report it.. I'm certain some are aware but they will not report without permission to do so. IMO

Why such the concentrated effort to make sure hes said no now? Where were you when we were offering? Crickets, the emphatically no.

If there was nothing to shut down then theres no need to say he said no.

If we made a Saban type offer that is all I have asked for and we should be glad we have Currie

I don't believe that as a reason. Somebody like Gruden does not turn a job down because they're scared of not succeeding. That's not in a guy's DNA like him.

Because that is what our sources communicated... I haven't been told the number of coaches we contacted and how many were not interested and how many were. Was stated specifically that he is interested... We might have gotten a dozen no's

So someone from the AD is sending out a memo to be leaked, unless you both have the same exact source.

I can tell you that I learned this morning that Gruden has said no for the second time this week and Tennessee will now move on to other candidates. I would look for Scott Frost as the leading candidate

Frost should be everyone’s #1 now. I don’t think people understand just how good he is.

That's my point. Waiting until UK makes zero sense unless something is in the works. If that game is circled as the date, then there has to be a reason.

My only hang up with that theory is his ESPN anniversary date isn't till December 15th. I think it's more likely announced that he will assume the HC responsibilities after the season. I'm not sure the firing and naming of a new HC will happen within days of each other. But hey, I'm just like everyone else, trying to read as much as I can and form an opinion. Who knows...He knows, SOON!!

Well thanks for info.....blows, but most of us had to expect this regardless...return from fantasy land and I have no idea who our next coach would be, better yet I don't even have a preferred suggestion...

Scott Frost would not be a “top tier” hire. It would be Butch esq.

If this is their 2nd choice they obviously do not care about being upper echelon.

I don't know his sources and they could be same. I heard from 3 different sources... I guess its best for everyone to just wait on the outcome.. let's see who gets named as the coach

So, the only reason I can figure that Gruden would be concerned about losing friends at UT is because he isn't confident that he can get the job done. That's very hard for me to believe.

However, if the man doesn't want to be here then I don't want him here.

frost is interested?
how interested?
he ain't interested in huskers?
surely they won't let him get away.

Coasty if Currie made a Saban type offer and JG rejected then it would be all over natl media........

and It would put us back in the game.

Since there is no natl buzz about a Saban type offer then well its bunk
