No Gruden apostle here. But if he ever did get into college coaching, he wouldn't have a difficult time landing 5* QB's IMO.

Landing two 5* QB's in back to back classes, then letting the better one win out at a place like UT, 8 wins would be the basement.

But what makes you think that? The fact that he's charismatic on MNF? Gruden presumably has not done any college recruiting since 1991 when he was the WR coach at Pitt. He hasn't done any coaching period since 2008.

I just really, really don't get the obsession with him. If Tennessee fans were going to get all excited about a pipe dream hire, I'd expect it to be about Peyton, not Gruden or anyone else.

So what's the latest news? I've seen where CBJ has already resigned and that Gruden will be next head coach. Is this news coming from reliable sources? I don't want to read through 2000 post for these answers.

Troll Fale.

He’d recruit a QB because of his Jon Gruden Quarterback Camp shows. He’s done it for years and works with most of the big college QBs prepping them for the draft. Read where a lot of them schedule time with him after their episode of the show is filmed. He made Brad Johnson good. He’s a QB training legend.

It just goes around in a big circle. I just read the last 10 pages when I get on and it goes from good to bad to good again that fast. I've seen Leave it to Beaver enough to know the Beav always ends up right in the end.

Can a Gruden apostle answer this question for me?

What exactly in his background indicates he'd be a good college coach? Everybody seems to think he'd succeed here as sure as the sun comes up in the morning. He isn't coming here, but even if he did, why is there such a certainty he'd be a great coach?

1) Excellent recruiter because his reputation and personality recruits itself. Any recruit would be dumb to not come play for him.

2) Great at x’s and o’s. One of the best minds in all of football.

3) Won at the absolute highest level (Super Bowl with Tampa)...against the team he developed (Raiders). People will listen and buy in because he’s been there.

4) Excellent with QBs. Seen as a guru.

5) Loves Tennessee, understands our history/expectations, and will give his all for it.

6) He’s a grinder still. Loves the game and word is he still gets up at 4am to study film.

7) Will recruit amazing coaches for his staff because again...who wouldn’t want to coach alongside Gruden?

8) He’s so entertaining! Half the battle in college is keeping your team constantly interested and grinding. He will make it fun. Media, recruits, players, and fans will all love him.
