that's 40% and he has played 2 much tougher defensive teams than Jordan ever played in a finals. I'm not saying he's better than Jordan, but the differences aren't very big, as you suggest.
I'd rather have Jordan, but it's much closer for me than you suggest. I'd probably prefer Bird or Magic over either of them. That was me who said there was a significant drop off. You may be correct in that there is better def played in todays game. Bottom line is with the game on the line and one final shot left to win the game who would you rather have taking it Jordan or Kobe? Jordan and its not even close.

he did not stay above 50% and you should check the shooting relative to the league as a whole, rather than in a vacuum. Jordan's high % years, there were hordes in the same range.Kobe is a consistant 40-45% shooter up to this stage of his career. By age 29 for Jordan, he had won his 3peat and was constistently shooting over 50% from the field.
I clearly stated when he was 29 years old (same age as Kobe), it was routinely above 50%. His career shooting average didn't drop below 50% until he started playing with the Wizards (49.7%)he did not stay above 50% and you should check the shooting relative to the league as a whole, rather than in a vacuum.
