I have done pretty well in the Mississippi Youth Football Association. I have offensive and defensive experience. Ran a pro set offense with a lot of misdirection. And played a lot of man coverage on defense. I have also never met a blitz that I don’t like.

My wife asked me 30 minutes ago what I am so engrossed in on VN. I explain coaching search, and likely Butch firing post bama game. She just asked me when the bama kickoff was... I respond with silence sadly. She mentions my priorities being messed up. She asks me what happens if Butch wins. I laughed

Grumors...

I was at the UGA game in 2013 and will never forget that environment. I remember seeing him get the 15 yard penalty for yelling at the official. Thought it was kind of a BS call but realized that we finally had a coach with some emotion.

Any suggestions for our first trip are appreciated.

Do I think Gruden will be given the first opportunity to become the next head coach? Yeah. Do I think he takes it? Doubtful. Is it a done deal? Absolutely not.

What I think is more likely is the AD floating rumors to help leverage a few of the more realistic Norvell, Brohm type guys.

I’d love to be wrong. Gruden and Patterson are the two guys at the top of my list. But history shows us a very clear archetype for the guy we will hire, and it isn’t a big name.

The rumor that gives me hope is Peyton Manning's involvement. If Currie is smart, he'll let him pick the next coach. If anybody would recognize a good one, it's him. Part of UT's problem has been that bean counters picked the last three coaches. A football guy needs to pick the next one.

Don't think Hart was a bean counter. He just commenced a search in a public and somewhat embarrassing fashion.

Hamilton was a bean counter and then didn't protect the school with proper buyouts. Go figure.

Just don't really know what happened to him. In his first three years on the job it appeared like the program was on a clear upward trajectory. His teams were disciplined and fought hard every game, and we also had lots of promising young talent. Although his cliches were annoying everyone seemed to like him. Then something just happened that totally changed the direction of the program. All that being said, he's to blame in the end. Really looking forward to this coaching search.
