Doesn't matter. Despite me believing he would do a good job and like you said be on a mission to beat Saban, Tennessee will never hire him back. Imagine just how pathetic it would make us look after the way he left.

And how bad would it make UT look to hire that guy that left in the middle of the night. It makes it look like they couldn't get anyone else. Even if they can't they need to stay away from him.

Can confirm that when CBJ and UT part ways, there will be an announcement of an interim coach and a search committee

Expect to hear names in the weeks following this search. Tennessee will have to interview multiple rules to cover HR bases.

Shouldn’t change outcomes behind the scenes of parties are in place.

Good info. But still a tease of the big question.

Okay, we're talking about it, so here's how I feel:
1) Gruden, and it's really not even close after that.
2) Peterson, Patterson - I just don't see it. I'd be good with it tho.
3) Kelly, Petrino - prolly not happening either.
4) Frost - I just don't know how I feel, but I like him better than ...

5) Bobo, Frohm, Durkin, ect ... I just can't get excited here. I'd take a leave of absence from all things UT related.

UT administration has got 1 chance to get this right, or they'll alienate a large portion of the fanbase, possibly, beyond repair.

Off topic sort of, but, let's say Butch is let go after Bama. Fulmer, against my best judgement, is named interim and installs a few straight up, pro set, power I plays and keeps it simple. So far, a new coach has not been named. Let's say Fulmer wins out and we go 8-4. ??? Then what?

If it's not gruden, Peterson, Patterson, stoops, what kind of background do you want your coach to have? I've always preferred a defensive minded coach

Well if butch is fired this weeked then we most likely already have our hire. Is it gruden? Who knows but I've stated all along Currie is not gonna fire butch until he has a replacement ready, and if he has only been talking to gruden as if rn then that could mean good news for us
True. I guess Curry has to list it as well after Butch is let go since it’s a state job, right? Question is, after that does he have to interview a certain number of “candidates” before he can hire? Not quite sure of the process.

Then nothing. The great pumpkin goes back to doing whatever he's currently doing and we hire someone else.

Fulmer could take over today and beat Bama 75-0 and I still wouldn't hand him the program.

That being said, I'd love to see him as the interim.

Then The Grude abides

no it won't. for every one of you that wouldn't like some of the names on that list, there's another group that would.

here's what i'd say about Gruden...he's the only coach they could hire that would be as close to universally accepted by the entire fan base.

past that, there's going to be splinters of support / disdain for anyone they hire across the fan base.

Then Fulmer is the hero for getting the team ready for the new coach. Then Fulmer is given the exit owed to him.

Well, maybe I'm the only Vol fan that would feel alienated. But that's how I'd feel. Tired of the games. Time to get it right, get things fixed.

i don't disagree. and you wouldn't be the only one, which is kinda my point.... but that's an awful small pot you're dealing with when there's really only 1 guy you could hire that would be accepted day 1 by the vast majority of the fan base.

it's the old "do you take TIger or the field?"

i'd have to take the field in this case....and i'd be prepared for a lot of these debates about who the coach should be, and ultimately who the coach is, to continue until....well, until the new guy either flames out or proves that he was the right guy.

yea. that should be fun.

Going to go out here and mow a few yards, I can rest assure for sure the roller coaster ride will still be in full force when I get back. Grudeday to all!!!! SOON!!!! GBO!!!!!
