The thing about it is if Gruden turns us down UT better act quickly to either sweeten the deal to change his mind or move on to the next top candidate. It's beginning to look like the natives in Florida are getting restless and ready to oust Sharkey McToothy.
We don't need to get into a head to head battle with Florida for a top notch coach.

That's for sure. You can get an idea from folks around the program or even from the other side of the table. Some of it matches up...that's usually pretty good. But Currie is running a tight ship.

I don't know if Gruden said yes, or no...only that they are talking. And somebody made a good point....Saban said no multiple times. We could just be in the negotiating stage. I'm pretty sure their resolve is not to stop at the first no.

Now I know he's a troll. No way the AD is calling mid level boosters to up donations for a new coach while Butch is still employed. This guy is full of crap guys.

And even if he said or says no, like others have said, we know the administration is ready to bring in a big name. So we're in a win-win situation for the first time in a looooonnggg time.

I read that. All I am saying is if he turns it down it doesn't have to mean the $ wasn't right.

Some years back, one of my former business partners who owns a bunch of real estate was approached by representatives from Wal-Mart. They wanted to buy one of his parcels to build a Supercenter, and they made him an offer, which he declined.

The Wal-Mart people went their way, and the build didn't happen. 3 years later, they came back with an offer on a separate parcel for a completely different build. They told him essentially "we know you told us no 3 years ago, but would you consider this separate proposal?" My partner told them "well, the first time you only made me one offer. After I said no, why didn't you make me another offer? I would have considered it!"

They ended up making better offers on BOTH parcels, my partner made bank, Walmart got their stores, everyone was happy.

Moral of the story: if you really want something, don't stop going after it the first time you hear "no."

I agree with you. I know they say there is a $ number for everyone, but we've been hearing he just doesn't want to coach college ball for a while, so...

Just passing the info along for those who maybe don't follow him.

I tend to agree with you. I can see folks sitting down for a talk over coffee, just trying to feel things out. Nothing that detailed till Butch is officially let go.

We have definitely moved into a new phase of the process this week. The disinformation campaign is in full swing.

I don’t know what percent of people here think is is realistic, but for your own sake, be highly skeptical of Gruden until you literally hear it from HIS mouth.

I feel like so many things have to go right, and I could see anything from a stubborn booster to the Colts job coming open ruining this entire thing. And that’s if he wants the job, which most people (again, I don’t know what Boro/DTO knows) seem to think will probably not be be case.

If after several attempts they can?t land him I will certainly be satisfied

He may be legit with his info. Im not familiar with him.

That sucks about Gruden. But hopefully it means they are committed to getting a homerun and aren't like, "Well at least we tried to get Gruden...Alright! On to Brohm or Frost or Satterfield!"
