How bout this line up satisfies everyone.

Head coach. Gruden.
Offensive coordinate. Kiffin.
Quarter back coach Manning
Offensive line coach. Fullmer
Special recruiter Rick patino

I understand Kiffin is an offensive genius. I understand that he would make a great offensive coordinator at any school. I understand that USC was his "dream job" and most anyone would have taken the opportunity if it were presented.

I don't think there was any malicious intent on his part, but that doesn't make it excusable. He screwed us over, whether it was intentional or not. He's the reason we are looking for a coach right now.

The only thing that intrigues me about the potential of bringing him back is his hatred for Nick Saban. I hate Nick Saban, so I want a coach who hates Nick Saban. Most coaches have respect for each other regardless of rivalries and animosity between fan bases.. but Kiffin is spiteful. He took great pleasure in beating us while he was at Alabama.. Not because he hates Tennessee, but because we trash talk him constantly. I actually like that about him as a person. There's no doubt in my mind that he would love nothing more than the opportunity to beat Nick Saban. He would make it his life's mission.

I would never want him back as a HC... but an OC? I might actually be ok with that.

That being said, Currie would never let it happen. He cares about his reputation too much.

Serious question, not even joking, how bad are the Grudenites, especially the OGs, going to gloat if Gruden is hired? The condescension from national and even most local media is just so insufferable, they are in severe need of karmic payback. The schadenfreude would be the most delicious thing ever!

No need to gloat. They'll be the loudest ones out there, screaming "GO VOLS."

My current line of thinking is that if Gruden is going to be the next head coach, then it will be announced Monday after the Alabama beating. If they don't announce Gruden on Monday, then I think the odds of him being the next coach plummet.

Just from what you've heard, is it still possible Butch is here through Kentucky? Say it isn't so...I can't take it.

Like I said...it'll be announced when it's most beneficial to Mr. Currie and what he is trying to accomplish.

I subscribe to the theory that they are letting Butch twist in the wind in order to renegotiate the buyout...I don't know that, but it would align with the way Currie has been described to me.

That being said, it won't surprise me if he's let go after Bama...which I have heard.

Who knows?

I don't believe the two are connected at all.

I am still processing that Butch is still in the state of Tennessee, still in Knoxville, still on campus and still employed as the University of Tennessee football coach. All of that seems wrong.

Not Boro, but from what I have heard... Yes... Only because ANYTHING is possible..... I heard after Alabama, but unsure how closely after ... technically, Kentucky is after Alabama

Ty for the info. I hope it is beneficial to Currie sooner rather than later 😁

I stated the other day that I'm pre-irritated at the people who will claim they believed.

Which hopefully indicates there really is something big going on behind the scenes.

No malicious intent? He and his coaching staff were calling our committed recruits and telling them to go to USC instead. For the early enrollees, they told them not to show up on campus because it would make it more difficult for them to go to USC instead.

Screw Kiffin and every single assistant coach on his staff!

As much as I think Kiffin is the scum of the earth as a person and also a professional, he would make it his life's purpose to whip Satan's butt. I'd go for it, but only if he's on a short leash.

I think Butch hitting the bricks after Bama makes the most sense. It is at least theoretically possible that he beats Kentucky. That happens and he will garner more vocal support from his die-hard fans. Just muddies the water.

To me that is the action that would prevent him from ever returning to Tennessee in any capacity. That, and the outstanding issue with the Lexus. LOL.

I've said all along that the timing is very different this time around.

I'll let this out....I've been told that Gruden has expressed being tired of the political slant of ESPN and the NFL "kneeling" controversy. Couple that with ESPN's efforts at budget cutting...it's only a matter of time that his contract comes under scrutiny.

Those issues, along with a new more compliant UT Administration, and Manning's handling of the boosters issues....it's a new day.

So what you're saying is... Colin Kaepernick will be the savior of Tennessee Football?

If I cross my fingers into a semi-permanent pretzel shape, does that help move things along? The regular 🤞 hasn't gotten me 💩 so far

I don't post a lot, but I'm all in for Gruden. Have been since 2012. I only lurked back then (didn't join til later). Those original threads were gold.
