A couple weeks ago Larry was talking in the Paging LWS thread, and he said that he's become very cynical and fed up with how the admin has run the program. He said that colors his opinions somewhat. He even went so far as to say he wouldn't be surprised if some of his access is affected by his online comments about the power players.

Remember the "tuck rule" play in the New England snow? That Raiders team deserved a win there and should have gone to the Super Bowl. He was then traded to the Bucs and he retooled tier stagnant offense into a record breaking scoring machine that won the Super Bowl in his first year. He then took that team thru salary cap he'll and managed two more playoff appearances one in which he was beaten by the Giants team that won the Super Bowl and ended the Patriots perfect season.
The mans only coached three losing seasons and that was during horrible cap issues.

So here's some facts...
Fact... Gruden coached as a grad assistant at UT.
Fact... his wife is from Tn and was a cheerleader there.
Fact... his son attends UT
Fact... he owns property in Tennessee
Fact... His family, her parents live in Tennessee

Fact... Gruden has said he wanted to coach again...
Fact... ESPN is tanking...
Fact... MNF is tanking
Fact... Gruden says his Dream Job is coaching the VOLS...
Fact... VOLS made a half hearted cheap run at him last time and failed... it even got so far that he was vetting assistants
Fact... VOLS bring in more revenue money then anyone in college football next to Texas... $115 million ish a year...
Fact... money isn't a problem this time
FACT... VOLS are looking to someone with VFL connections to the program...

Fact... Tennessee HAS to make a BIG SPLASH HIRE!!!

Fact... That hire needs to be someone that isn't committed to another coaching job and can start talking to recruits ASAP...

Can anyone give me anything pertinent from the last 4 hours? Been coaching and have little time to read back through the thread.

Nashville reporter Trey Wallace said we are going to be paying our next coach an obscene amount of money.

He described it as a Brinks truck amount.

I agree that Rohan's momma cursed Phil and UT in 2001. Her curse was that we would not win another SEC championship for 20 yrs. (UT lost the 2004 and 2007 SEC game). Vicky Fulmer's curse was that we would absolutely suck until she was satisfied that UT hired a worthy replacement for Phil. It wasn't Kiffin, Dooley, or Butch.....but Jon Gruden is the one worthy or taking Phil's spot. Gruden is the one.

Hmm. I'm of the opinion that many of the media pieces yesterday and today were planted by admin to increase pressure on Butch. Perhaps that is a leak to assure fans that the search is being taken seriously?

I want Gruden.
I want to believe the Grumors.

One thing that doesn’t exactly add up regarding 2012 that I am having difficulty reconciling. The “backstory” is that boosters and power players had it set up for Gruden but Hart submarined the deal. If that is accurate, how did Hart last 3 years after essentially corrupting what the power brokers set up? Maybe someone can give me a better perspective...
