Sorry if you guys felt like I pooped in your macaroni tonight. I was more vocal than usual on my thoughts regarding Gruden

I’m pretty loyal, and I hate to see friends strung along for a lie. There is precedence for this exact same situation on this board, and whether it was ever close or not, many, including I bought a bill of goods that ended up with Butch at the podium.

I will stand down and let it run it’s course. That doesn’t mean I’m not posting, i’ll Just try to let this be my final word on the issue.

I’m not 100% Gruden will not come. As I said earlier, faith and doubt exist as a spectrum, not absolutes, and I’ve not seen anything that compels me to jump into this. Sources I trust still say no, and just like 2012, all we hear is “smokescreen”. Maybe it’s just blowing smoke.

Love y’all. ✌️

I agree. I think the old saying goes something like this: Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice shame on me. Some have longer memories than others.

So we are screwed again I see.Did VQ even mention Frost or he is too talented for us to have here at UT? We would rather have coach BOBO in orange. They screw up this hire and we all need to revolt. Let the damn stadium be empty and see how they finish their projects then eff them all😡

Butch probably told him to name some crap hire to get the fans back on the Butch wagon. It’s not gonna happen, like ever.

Not buying Bobo for a minute

A little comedic relief flowing from the AD to Hubbs and co.

As someone who lives in the state of Georgia and hates the University of Georgia with the heat of a thousand overflowing volcanoes, the thought of a UGA quarterback being UT Head Coach nauseates me beyond reason.

I have never said he sucks. He is a very good up and coming candidate. I would welcome him but it's a risky hire like all up and comers.

I don't know. I view Gruden as the most risky of all. If he comes and doesn't deliver Sabanesque results people are going to lose it.

Hubbs was asked what level of info does he get during a coaching search...

First of all they are not in a selection process right now. So there's not an on-going search. Obviously, everyone wants names and out of the gate if they get into a search there are going to be tons of names thrown out there. And then things will narrow.

Gruden's name would be one of them. He's on about every coaching hot board that comes out because he can have any job he wants. The question is does he want to coach. He sends out alot of mix signals as he has done for the last decade.

As I mentioned in another thread coaching searches are hard. My focus is on being right. I have some good fortune in covering them and I have things happen that make me look bad.

For example, in the search that ended up with Butch Jones, we had everywhere that Hart went to interview a coach. We had mentioned Jones early as a possible candidate. Hart's claim to me after the fact was that he talked to one other candidate that was never mentioned in that search and he wouldn't give it up after the fact.

When Dooley was hired, I had before anyone that Cutcliffe wasn't coming when a media out in North Carolina said he was. But I didn't have first that they had hired Dooley.

I can go on and on. I reported that Dooley had hired Kevin Steele as a DC. But Steele never got on the plane when it came to pick him up so I looked bad on that deal even though he had agreed in principle on a deal. He just never signed anything.

My point is the ebbs and flows of coaching searches are exciting and they are also very challenging.

I have an idea of how a John Currie search goes. He's not flying to a candidates front door like Hart did to interview them. Currie if his search history tells you anything is going to work very quietly in a large city. He's not going to shut down rumors. He's not going to share things.

When Tennessee hired Kevin O'Neil, Currie didn't send out any paperwork on campus. At one point he used a gas station's fax machine as a communication hub during the search.
