Just have a feeling that if a big name head coach is in play that the VQ staff will be left somewhat in the dark. If the names of Kelly, Gruden, etc.. we're to come up in any of their material then the temp of Butch's hot seat would be unbearable. Imo we won't see any of those bigger names put out by VQ until Butch is relieved of his duties.

I think Austin is just a NegaVol right now and threw out Mike Bobo because it seems like someone the UT admins would actually hire.

No reason to read too much into what they say. They’ve likely gotta be careful with what they can say and are more likely to try to err on the side of caution.

I almost wonder if, aside from being the guys who shove a mic in people's faces at the end of practice, they know about as much as the rest of us.

Tangentially related, I wonder if there's a single member of the Knoxville sports journalism community that has actually played a down of organized football.

Got a feeling Currie had some info put out today to help with negotiation of buyout. 247, VQ, LWS, and Thamel all have come out with items about how Curry prefers not to do this or that unless forced too. Not a coincidence fellas

I wouldn't like it or hate it. All up and comers are equal in my book.

But they're not. Some have evidence that they are better coaches. There are no guarantees, of course. But, there is a pecking order to up and comers and if we have to dip that low, we better get the best one.

Differences in the two:

Bobo
More SEC experience as a player and coach
One more year of HC experience

Frost
NFL experience (under two pretty good coaches)
Has coached and played in a NC
Position coach for a Heisman winner
Experience playing and coaching both Offense and defense

Who knows, maybe Bobo ends up being the better coach long term. It's hard to argue for Bobo being equal to Frost at the moment, though.

Who did Frost coach under in the NFL?

Doubt VQ knows much more than anybody else. It's true, though, that UT would have preferred not to make a coaching change this year. And CBJ would have liked to stay another season for his son to graduate HS here. I think both parties saw value in trying to make that happen. Nobody anticipated this maelstrom.

UT gave CBJ everything he needed to succeed. It's unfathomable how a team with this much talent and experience can be so awful. Nobody in CFB is doing less with more than this staff.

Can't wait to see Mike Bobo lead the Volunteers through the T next year on our way to a 5-7 season. It pisses me off to even think he'd be on anybody's list. Mike Bobo is doo doo. He also has a stupid last name. I can't handle a coach whose last name is Bobo.

Would you want a DE named Clowney?
