Yeah but to me it just sounded totally different than what other insiders have said. He acted like no back channels are being worked and nothing has been decided on Jones yet in Currie's mind. That's completely different that what we've heard from others who are close to the program.

He had the UT psychology department determine what news Volnation would least like to hear, then immediately posted it.

Right now he just seems impervious to the mistakes we saw our previous coaches made, but it's a guarantee that he'll have some head scratching moments of his own.

Just play disciplined, smart football. If you lose, you lose. But at UT, you will win a lot more than you lose that way.

Kelly and Patterson would probably pacify most I would think. Although I'm good with Kelly, just have the feeling UT would shy away. Doesn't matter about his lack of involvement or if rumors are true, have a feeling "image" would prevail.

Honestly no clue on Patterson chances. But once you get past those 3, you get around half screaming "no" already.
Interesting but I've found VN to be a fair microcosm of the overall fanbase.

Everybody with a buddy who's stepped foot inside the Anderson Center has sources during coaching searches.



Best not to put too much stock into any of it. I'll believe something regarding Butch's firing/our next hiring once Jimmy Hyams has tweeted the "Breaking News" 12 hours after every other media member.

Most of us accepted Butch after he was announced. (we had to google and wasn't thrilled that Dooley beat him, but his press conference was good and he wanted to be here)

If people like the Twitter brigade go all in on the Gruden thing, it'll be just constant moaning and groaning from day one with anyone else.

I don't think it would be that high. A majority of TN fans got on the Butch train pretty quick despite his relative unknown status. Most Tennessee fans give these less than stellar hires the benefit of the doubt. I do sense fans are tiring of it and it will be a much tougher sell this go around.

Maybe I misunderstood Larry's post but it sounded like to me that Currie hasn't reached a decision yet on Jones. Surely to goodness he has? I thought it was a forgone conclusion that Currie had fired him in his mind and he's working the back channels here.

He also said no way Currie would have talked to any coaches yet with jones still the coach here. That his name would be mud. Ever hear of back channels. He better be making a list and guageing interest.

I was one of those who jumped on the Jones train pretty fast. Not going to make that mistake again.

I'll agree with Invol and beech, "half" is more of an expression than reality. I think "the EXTREMELY vocal 25%" is realistic though.

If Butch is retained we will be right back where we were in 2012 and an even bigger joke. I'd hope no one goes to the games
