Read that quote again. Currie would prefer not to have to do it this year.
Yeah we would prefer he didn't have to do it. Hell I prefer to watch a game and expect to win. I prefer to play in the SECCG for once.
We all prefer this didn't have to happen BUT...
Yeah but to me it just sounded totally different than what other insiders have said. He acted like no back channels are being worked and nothing has been decided on Jones yet in Currie's mind. That's completely different that what we've heard from others who are close to the program.
It's weird to even think about Gruden losing 3 games, lol. Imagine if he slipped up and lost to Stoops or something. The meltdown would be insane. Mystique and shine instantly gone.
Right now he just seems impervious to the mistakes we saw our previous coaches made, but it's a guarantee that he'll have some head scratching moments of his own.
Half is probably a stretch.
If it's not Gruden but another great coach that gets it right you won't hear much of that. It built with time for Jones. He couldn't slow it down on Saturdays and made it worse in front of the Mic afterward.
Just got caught up over in the Gruden thread and man do I feel like an outsider. Almost everyone in there has sources!
Same posters that on are on VN all the time and never break any story about anything.
But come coaching search time, they know everything before it even happens.
Stats don't check out.
I honestly would be excited for Frost, too---Chip Kelly, plus several others. There are good options out there..
Most of us accepted Butch after he was announced. (we had to google and wasn't thrilled that Dooley beat him, but his press conference was good and he wanted to be here)
Everybody with a buddy who's stepped foot inside the Anderson Center has sources during coaching searches.
Best not to put too much stock into any of it. I'll believe something regarding Butch's firing/our next hiring once Jimmy Hyams has tweeted the "Breaking News" 12 hours after it has already happened.
Absolutely. But there's a big difference between not pleasing all the fans and having half of them in pre hate mode for no real reason.
And I know all fan bases have idiots but my God we have some vocal ones.
If people like the Twitter brigade go all in on the Gruden thing, it'll be just constant moaning and groaning from day one with anyone else.
Jones doesn't want to be here. He knows it's over and at this point he's trying to get out asap with as much $ as he can.
I don't think it would be that high. A majority of TN fans got on the Butch train pretty quick despite his relative unknown status. Most Tennessee fans give these less than stellar hires the benefit of the doubt. I do sense fans are tiring of it and it will b's a much tougher sell this go around.
nothing on CBJ being gone and it is too early for any real action on a replacement. I still don't believe he is back next year but the last 24 hours there is some talk that Currie really would prefer not to have to do it this year. I think he would have a difficult time selling that line of thinking but that chatter has been out there..
