I'm of the opinion that almost anybody we could bring in here would be at least a little bit of a gamble. It's a world of imperfect information, nobody is a sure thing. Urban was seen as a gamble before Florida hired him as well. To me, one of the most important things when hiring a coach is whether or not he fits. Mike Leach and PJ Fleck, for example, do not fit here IMO. Frost does. He's young, has excelled in coaching both sides of the ball, played for Belichick, Gruden, and Bill Walsh. Most importantly, what he's been able to do at UCF in such a short amount of time is very impressive to me.

I mostly agree but there aren't a lot of slam dunk proven coaches out there that really move the needle imo. The reasons I think Frost is different than the previous 3 hires are:

-His pedigree is impeccable.

He's been around so many great coaching minds and programs. His knowledge is diverse. The man has been a successful OC and DC. He played at the highest level so he knows what competition is about.

-He didn't take over a program that someone else built into a winner. If they complete the transformation this season that is an astounding feat in just two years

-He is an alpha male and has the personality to be successful more so than most coaches I've seen

I just think he is different from your average up and comer

Wasn’t going to post this, but figure WTH ...
Feelers have gone out from the Gruden camp assessing interest by potential assistants. Won’t give a source, so feel free to call me a troll. I’ll just say it was the same person who told me T. Boyd decommitted, Pearl was being investigated, and that the Gruden deal was “off” last time before it hit any message boards or media outlets. This could happen.

I will support him if that’s who they hire. All I’m saying is we better have been turned down by Kelly, Patterson, Gundy, Malzhan, Gruden and Miles. You have to go through that list before you even get to Frost tier.

I was there for it all last time, it's going to get so much more insane over there. People joke about watching Gruden's tie color on MNF but last time it was hilarious each week with thousands of posts each night. If Gruden wears orange tonight freak will have to upgrade servers.

Lol! My brother and I were talking about that. Remember when he wore a red tie on MNF and Arkansas fans became convinced he was going there instead?

My job at the time had a big conference in downtown Nashville during the peak of the Grumors. I ended up drunkenly telling a few clients that Gruden was 100% coming to UT. I left out the fact that my source was VolNation.

This gruden mess is fun, I will admit. Just hope there is any substance to it. I have to believe at this point there is SOMETHING there.

I would take Frost over Gundy, Malzhan, and Miles alllll day. Agree on the other three..... maybe lol
