That would be ridiculously hard to prove would’t it?

He’s good enough to at least be a #2 somewhere, sure. And I guess his politics are tangentially related to him not being picked up.

But nobody will hire him because of the backlash from fans, not because the owners or the league dislike his politics, per se.

Took actual collusion from MLB owners to win a case like this. He hired noted celebrity whore mouthpiece lawyer Mark Geragos to buck this up even more. He’s most likely banking on a settlement to go away or to stoke up his martyr stance...since it’s waning a tad and not 100% on him. Hope the owners lawyers slap their fees on top of him since Geragos prolly took this on contingency.

If only this was true. We have so called fans right here in this thread celebrating those kids losing. This fanbase is disgusting and deserves nothing. I am ashamed to me apart of a group like this.

It’s a message board where fans can vent their frustrations. The superincumbent vibe you throw off is just unpleasant man.

Haven't watched them. Assume it's the same as before. They hired some Phil longo guy fromFCS that was highly regarded. Typical spread guy

Was wondering if it was still a similar spread to what they ran before.

Seeing as though Derek Mason “owns” spread teams I thought that scoreline seemed a little... interesting

The only thing that bothers me about Gruden is he has not been a college head coach. Recruiting by all accounts is a grind. Particularly at Tennessee which has traditionally recruited nationwide. I know he is intense hence the Chucky nickname.

Is he a disciplinarian ? If the reports are correct the team needs one to right the ship.

I don't think this team is in rebuild stage . There is talent. I think mentally they need a rebuild and this may be where he will shine.

Is he a slam dunk can't miss?

Recruiting would probably be the last thing I would worry about with Gruden. His name would recruit itself. I don't think he would need to spend that much time on the recruiting trail, he would be "the closer".

I think he would be a grand slam.

Still not getting my hopes up

There is a longtime respected poster on VQ (not VN) who's wife is related to Cindy Gruden. He's been sharing info saying basically Currie is going after him, Peyton is involved, Gruden is very interested, he believes he will coach again, ball is in his court. UT is going all in.

I shared his first post on it the other day in here and I think you shared it in the Gruden thread.

This poster might be getting bad info (it happens) but he's not lying. And he never said Gruden would 100% be the coach at UT next fall, he just said UT is trying to make that happen and Gruden is listening.

Thanks for the info in first paragraph. Did not know the Cindy Gruden stuff had any chance of being legit.

Speak for yourself, man. Most UT fans I know are loyal to a fault, give generously to the University (whether through donations or merchandise), freely promote UT nearly everywhere they go (and, as mentioned above, pay for the privilege), deck their homes, inside and out, with UT decor, and help boost the local economy every year. And most of us are good people, whether it suits your current agenda or not.

We may not be owed the moon, but we are owed a sincere effort by the university to be good at football.

People said nobody would show up on Saturday. The stadium wasn't sold out, but it was full. The fans were respectful. They cheered loudly. Using Cat's argument, there are idiots everywhere, but I don't know what we can do about that.

Do you know which thread it was in and poster name?

So I’m trying to catch up on all the rumors. Is Butch supposedly out and Gruden going to be the next coach?

So a smattering of the same crew that was pumping up Gruden fever five years ago, declaring it a done deal, etc., is back doing the same thing now, and we're supposed to believe them why?

I get that the rumors and palace intrigue are fun, but a lot of people are just setting themselves up to be let down again.

Jon Gruden is not going to coach here. He's said himself he has no interest whatsoever in college coaching.

bingo

The funniest part of the Gruden stuff is that we will get it done and hire him this time and a guy that hasn't coached a down of football in over a decade will not set the world on fire and you guys will lose your mind.

It does seem a lot like last search, but this isn't random people on VN saying stuff- JAV and Vol Obrien or some name similiar- and now who appears to be Cindy's cousin on other sites, who are considered to be well respected posters, are saying positive things too.

It's the most Tennessee scenario ever. All the stars will align and we'll actually hire him, and he will be terrible.

I am pulling for the Texas to fail and bill obrien be available. You see I ain't a Texans fan so I can cheer for failure

You don't get to write the definition of fandom or how someone shows their fandom. I am a fan of the University of Tennessee's athletic teams. I am not a fan of Butch Jones nor do I feel any loyalty to him. He is not a good football coach and while yes, he did dig us out of the Dooley ditch, it appears he's creating a ditch of his own. This team is on a crash course to 5-7 - just like Dooley's last team. This program is the laughing stock of college football. Not as a result of the fans who spend their hard earned money filling a 100,000 seat stadium week in and week out. Not because of the players who run their brains into each other at full speed without compensation. It's because of a coach who is inept and only compounds his ineptitude with embarrassing one-liners and clichés.

You will not be able to guilt me for wanting to lose that game on Saturday. It was absolutely the best case scenario for this program. Just like the Georgia Tech and UMass games earlier in the season have shown, nothing good comes from pulling them out and surviving.

Do you know which thread it was in and poster name?

His handle is "Hutch 7" and I believe the original thread was titled "Just passing along morning info". But since then he's posted many times in many different threads on the same subject.

And don't forget he NEVER said Jon Gruden was going to accept the job. He just said he's been approached and is listening. He also believes he WILL coach again soon and hopes (like we all do) that he chooses UT. He also said (not sure if posted before) that his contract with ESPN comes up this year. And last time around it was real, Gruden was very interested then but UT wouldn't give him the power he required. This time he's being given EVERYTHING he asked for last time around. Ball is in his court...

Jim Mora Jr has a $15 million dollar buyout. Talk about not going anywhere

Ya that's an asinine rumor. Unless they've acquired a new ultra wealthy booster lately, they're not forking over the 30M or so to fire Moras squad and hire Kelly's.
