My feeling is that Currie isn’t the type of guy to fire butch without having a clear plan and direction. I think Currie wants to have say 3 interested candidates and basically be finalizing within 2 weeks.

I don’t think he wants to fire butch and be starting from ground zero in his search. That’s why I’m not worried that butch hasn’t been “officially” fired yet.

Look..I used to be a big anti Grudski because of the way I felt about his handling of the Bucs. I still think his time with them is not a positive, but I do think he could be a good to great CFB coach if he wanted to, because I think he has learned a lot in the time since. I am not against hiring Jon Gruden.

If we are rocking a 5-7 or 4-8 record this year I don't see myself saying that even if we have your Cam Cameron friend as coach. By all means, Fahr Cam, but not for any Butch Jones nostalgia.

Yeah if it’s an uninspiring hire than I’m going to dial back the level at which I’ve been following UT football and just limit myself to reading few preseason mags, checking the recruiting class on signing day and watching the games on Saturdays. Been spending way too much time following it all so closely and I’m not sure what I’ve gotten out of it. I know much more about the inner workings than I really need to know.

...but if we hire Gruden...

I’m glad Currie isn’t reactionary. This is great freaking news imo. He’s going to make the best call without any emotion involved at all. He’s going to have a coach in place by the time he fires Butch, it will be a thing of beauty.

Lol if you had any idea How big of a micro manager butch is... you would know that no one under him has much say so.

I never used the word "only". I said he won one SB with a team built by McKay and Dungy with one of the greatest defenses ever, and then all downhill from there. You cant just throw out that "Grudski won a SB...so he is therefore a great coach" without listing all the negatives of his time in TB.

He build up the team he beat in the SB. Raiders were really good by time he left. He still had two more playoff teams years after SB.
